I would say that Staley doesn't have enough to stick with good teams.. Is Kearney a good team? I don't know that but They at least looked the part last fridayThis is the type of game Kearney historically wins. I think their defense will stuff the run of the crows. SH has a decent defense, but even last year with the graduation of Ross and company, they were susceptible. The real guru is calling the offense for Staley. Not that he didn't make the Staley offense 12 times better than Bouchard ever thought possible. The man is just good, but he can only do so much. If it were the other way around, I'd question the bulldogs chances. Kearney will able to run it this year. JMHO.
Like most games will be intently watching who is winning at the line of scrimmage right out of the gate. As is well known by now I loved what I saw last Friday but there are concerns. Hopefully this game will answer those..........I would say that Staley doesn't have enough to stick with good teams.. Is Kearney a good team? I agree they are totally playing on house money so long as none of their key players are injured. I think they are just fine.............just ribbing you a bit as you predicted K would lose last week. This has the makings of a good game especially since it is early in the season. Had Harrisonville commited a zillion turnovers and K won by 40 because of that I would be far, far more skeptical. They were in midseason form last week. No game score prediction coming from me because Staley beat a Truman team that may not win one game in 2018.My biggest takeaway from last Friday night was the Harrisonville was a lot worse than I would have ever anticipated them being (starting with the unforced turnover/TD on their first offensive series.) Judging from their JV performance, it's not getting any better any time soon for that program (and I'm skeptical that their Varsity would beat a good JV program at this stage of the game.)
Kearney has a hell of a rb, a good qb, and a lot of unproven on offense; a couple proven studs on defense and a lot to be determined. I expect a rough go of it tonight - playing back-to-back years @ Staley is not a good thing. The construction/loss of home games is not a good thing for this team (getting on that bus virtually every week sucks.)
Worst case scenario, K comes home for a big opener against Platte County @ 1-1, and we'll know a lot more after that game...tonight they really are playing with house money.
