K practically sleepwalked through the first half after the big pass play to open. Any time you play a David Allie coached team they are gonna give you all they've got they just didn't have (outside of one big play) anything offensively but the Kearney D, which was noticeably faster, played a big part in that. If the Dogs play cleaner, agree, they easily put 50 on the board tonight. This kinda reminded me of the Platte County game. One thing I know for sure they have to stay on the gas offensively all game long when Smithville comes calling in two weeks or they could face hitting the road in the postseason early.Without the penalties...this is a turbo.
We were asking that, too. Frankly this offense is, at times, way too predictable. If we fans know what is coming I suspect the folks paid to figure it out do, too. The O Line flat out didn't play with attitude in my opinion. This looked a lot like the Platte County game. Perhaps it is a concentration thing that will cure itself once everything is on the line just not sure what the deal is. The D, per usual, played lights out with the exception of only one big play. And what the heck is up with all those holding pens again????? Maybe I was expecting something I shouldn't have just left this one kinda scratching my head.............Seemed like it should have been a much bigger spread, because Kearney's D throttled GV. GV's front seven dominated Kearney's OL for most of the game - Ah-Mu took more shots tonight than he's taken this season. If not for Connery's ability to break tackles & make something out of nothing, this game would have been a nail-biter. The turning point was the 3rd & a mile conversion on the screen to Patrick - as hard as GV was bringing it all night, I don't know why the heck Kearney didn't go to the screen earlier...

How quickly things can change. I still love the defense and think the O Line simply needs to play with more of a nastiness, something that seems to appear in the fourth quarter but definitely not in the first half. The other play K needs to integrate is short to intermediate passes over the middle. Literally never see them try that, either. The offense for Kearney better figure things out or they will be home for the stretch run. Way too predictable on offense. Was not impressed at all with that I saw from the offensive line. Connery saved them many times.
Those are concentration issues and are usually fixed when everything is on the line (even see some of this in the pros). Sometimes a team is too good for its own good................that part brings back some 2010 memories. Definitely not in panic mode or even close because I think it mainly comes down to ATTITUDE. This team has outstanding chemistry in my opinion.Got spoiled from watching Jones run the O. Personally, I'd like to see the current squad mix in some of Greg's old flex bone sets. Holding, offsides on kickoffs...there are definitely some things to clean up.
On another point you bring up the Jones era. I still contend they miss O Line coach Luellen much more than him. Back in the day K's O Line struck fear in opposing defenses and was very, very fundamentally sound. Again hopefully all this gets fixed..............and major games/opponents have a funny tendency to do that.Got spoiled from watching Jones run the O. I am pretty sure Moore went with him. Let me do some work on this and get back to you on others................Besides Luellen, how many other coaches are gone from the Jones era staff?
The Jones era was great, fantastic memories but for crying out loud move on.I am pretty sure Moore went with him. Let me do some work on this and get back to you on others................
4 coaches, including Jones went to Liberty north and another one left to be head coach at Raytown, so in all, 5 of the varsity coaches departed.Besides Luellen, how many other coaches are gone from the Jones era staff?
All of this certainly makes the Smithville game one week from Friday all the more interesting. There was one other "potential" factor I did not mention and that is study Class 4 District 7. Grain Valley has to be the favorite to win that one so the possibility these two will rematch for all the marbles in the quarters does exist ergo don't want to open everything up vs. a team like that. The Jones era was great, fantastic memories but for crying out loud move on.
Don't do the research or post any of that crap Top.
I wish they'd __________ because that's what Jones would do is stale.
Yeah, I wish the O line would play a little grittier, clean up dumb penalties, etc because that's KMO Nation football.
Kudos to Logan Minnick for another program-turning win last night!4 coaches, including Jones went to Liberty north and another one left to be head coach at Raytown, so in all, 5 of the varsity coaches departed.
