Been on prepskc since Friday: Looks all but decided Week 8 (on my attendance calendar) at Oak Park hosting Liberty. Park Hill appears to be the Wild Card then it is a cliff dropoff to the rest. Anyone with other thoughts etc. please advise!

Here is the conference for the 2024 Football Season for Class 6 in Kansas City:
Liberty
North Kansas City
Oak Park
Park Hill
Park Hill South
St. Joseph Central

My personal belief in the ranking for this conference:
1. Liberty - defense is returning almost every single player. Offense will only be improved upfront from experience, new QB (but a throwing threat), a 4 headed running machine in the backfield.
2. Park Hill - returns some young talent but there could be inner turmoil with rumors of harassment of players in this offseason. Also not returning their second pass catcher last season C. Jones who is a basketball standout. They are only over Oak Park as they don't seem to have lost as much as OP.
3. Oak Park - OP lost their QB, DLine, RB, WR, etc. There could be chances to replace and replenish but with a new Class 6 schedule could show you how Oak Park never returned but got lucky with a week Class 5 schedule.
4. Park Hill South - A mess, but has talent and ability across the board. They will need to support their offensive skills with a QB who is willing to run as a second option to never running.
5. NKC - The loss of Douglas will be seen this season. However, the new head guy from Grandview may give NKC the spark to develop a great running attack. While at Grandview the new HC was a great defensive mind, but also held a formidable running scheme. The deference? NKC may have a QB willing to catch snaps, hand the ball off, and not panic every play.
6. SJC - As they are rising in community and support. They also have a new HC, so we shall see. If SJC and OP were in Class 5, you may seem some great competition and fun football games. However, in Class 6 every week is a battle more than other classes.

Oak Park will build around T. Pankey. Central had a winning 2023 but lost pretty much everyone. Never heard that about PH but, of course, tend to shy away from stuff like that. Still think they could be a darkhorse in this league.

What is wrong with the Park Hill School District? They have good ACT scores if you use that metric, but there has been a constant revolving door of what I will leave as "drama" at both high schools for years. I've heard from multiple teachers that went up there it is a cluster as well. Much higher socioeconomically than most districts, but there is always drama. That isn't even talking about the underperformance in athletics considering the large enrollment sizes along with these mostly being "club/travel ball" families.

They have a hot mom problem. Mammas don't want their boys to have brain damage.

I don't know what is going on there, but they are also valuing schools to be academic first! That is how they have always operated, but the divide could be parents not respecting the space or value these other coaches at the HS level do. Privatized coaching is making it hard for young coaches....maybe. The higher administration could also be an issue in what they push or value on to coaches and kids. They are just now getting new facilities built after almost 20+ years.

I was at the Platte County vs. Park Hill South game a few years ago. All I got to say is those PHS mammas were HOT.
