I think it's safe to say we won't ever see these two teams play in the regular season. Bill Self and Jayhawk nation won't sleep for weeks knowing the best team in Kansas is Wichita St.

Poor KU from now on all games will be played at Allen Fieldhouse using their own refs. You know like the regular season.

Kansas does not play Wichita St for the same reasons Mizzou WILL NOT play Missouri State or St Louis University. Oh, but Mizzou will play SEMO and Missouri Southern, LOL.

Don't feel sorry for the Kansas Jayhawks

The Kansas roster were filled with freshmen, sophomores and one senior. It would be an understatement to say Kansas would not be in the mix next year. I do not share the " Hate Kansas " thing by many MoSports poster displace on this board. We must give credit where credit is due. The Jayhawks hired a great coach in Bill Self who has continued the great Kansas Jayhawk tradition. The Missouri Tigers passed on Bill Self in favor of Quin S.

Re: Don't feel sorry for the Kansas Jayhawks

Only Tayshawn Thomas leaves OU next year.................and last time I checked they are still in the NCAA Tourney. I agree about Self, though.

Anyone who does anything except admire what KU has done (does anyone remember they won it all under Self's tutelage in 2008???) is not in touch with reality BUT judging from what I saw in my own NCAA tourney contest I see one "fan" picked Kentucky (Mizzou) to win it all................RIDICULOUS!

Re: Don't feel sorry for the Kansas Jayhawks

Picking Snyder over Self should have led to Alden's firing years ago.

Dominic Okon, former Three Rivers player and assistant coach, is the head of basketball operations at Wichita St. and has been for a few years. It looks like he has helped build a very nice program there.

Not sure head coach at SEMO is better than head of basketball operations at Wichita St. but if he wants to be a head coach I guess it could be. He might be interested in some Region 16 players if he was coaching there.

Might not be, but probably a bit of a pay raise. When Marshall got his raise after the Final Four run, his money for assistants went to $500K. Three assistants and the director of ops. And it'd be pretty unusual to think that's split evenly. My guess is his salary is somewhere in the $75K range. Could probably double that at SEMO. And it's a pretty decent job for a guy with his experience. And he'd probably be a solid hire. Area ties, can recruit the JUCOs and knows the scene, and has been in a couple of wildly successful programs. One of those a D-I success. I know this, he could do a lot worse for a job...and SEMO could too.

I knew TaShawn would be a difference maker if he was eligible. I also think Buddy Hield is the best OU player not named Blake Griffin since Hollis Price in 2003. Thomas will be missed but Khadeem Lattin has a lot of raw talent and OU signed the top Juco center in the country 7' Akolda Manyang who really can get up and down the floor for his size. If I had to place a bet today my money would still say KU finds a way to win the league again but on paper OU, ISU WV and Baylor all look very good for next year.

As far as Wichita St-KU. I have a lot of respect and maybe even some grudging admiration for Bill Self. Kansas was good but probably not as good overall as Oklahoma, Iowa St and Baylor this year yet they won the Big 12 again. In December KU was very mediocre but by February they were a legit top 10-12 team. When it comes to playing Wichita St though I think it is good for college basketball if WSU wins. KU should not be scared to play in-state rivals. Nor should Missouri avoid playing MSU. WSU could win 5 years in a row and KU is still going to be KU and an elite program. MSU or St Louis might have a better team for a year or two than Missouri but they aren't going to have a superior program. Even if KU gets 2 home games for every 1 WSU home game that game should happen every year. MU and MSU should play. Ohio St- Cincy, Indiana-Butler, etc.
