Just think if St. Pius X in KC decided to go the Trinity, LN, or Rock route?

Tradition will only get you so far in today's high school world. The game has trickled down from the college level to the high school level. Today's kids want to play in nice facilities. They want trendy uniforms etc. If look at the stadium at Pius it looks like it did 30 years ago. No matter how much winning went on 25 years ago. Kids want want is relevant now. I'm sure there are other factors as well that have been mentioned above, but I will have to agree with the Staley assessment.

Oak Park was the Staley of the 1970s and 80s

Is that why Kearney is getting a new stadium renovation? Lib and LN just got theirs. Good Lord.

One big factor: the public schools they compete with for students are good to great football programs, with great staffs and plenty of resources. AND are great places to send your kids to school (mainly Staley, Platte County, Park Hill, PH South, Smithville, Liberty, Liberty North).
Kearney isn't exactly the worst place to send your kids to school.............just ribbing ya...........:)

Pius had some GREAT football teams late 90's early 00's, not that they recruited but kids wanted to play for coach Beyers.
Pius definitely recruited kids in the '90s. A friend of mine was recruited and played there, right up until he became academically ineligible. Then they kicked him back into the public school system to count against their enrollment. And no, I'm not naming names.

It could make things more interesting though if you gave names. :)
