Just so I got this straight,

ag man, For someone working 60-80 hours per week, you sure are on the internet a lot - 12 posts on this thread alone in the past 2 days at all hours of the day - .
Must have Wifi on the John Deere!

Never said I was a farmer Bogey, said I was involved in the ag-industry. Don't own a John Deere either.
I do however, have considerable knowledge of the topic at hand. Based on the post of some of the armchair farmers on this thread, that is a luxury that not all possess.

Easy Ag, some of us have more experience with farming than you want to give credit for.

I grow some tasty tomatoes when I can keep the rabbits out of them. Hum? Wonder if I am eligible for subsidies?

My spouse and I were visiting relatives in Galveston TX. Literally one block from the beach multiple landowners were grazing cattle. Why? Because then their valuable land can qualify as "agricultural" and they can save $$$$ on taxes.

Every time I go to the Family Farm and Home store to get items for my barn or horses they ask at the checkout if I am "farm exempt".

I bought a tractor three years back. No sales tax. This is all nonsense.

We talk about ripping off the system ag-man, farmers have been doing it for years. Talk about subsidized help.

I would love to see that eliminated too. But, you can't just eliminate that. I've taken that "assistance" at times simply because I paid more than that in. I would MUCH prefer to just keep it to begin with.

Farmers are making a great living IF they have land they inherited. Trying to buy land and crop or ranch is nearly impossible.
Those 80 hr work weeks are VERY real but also VERY part time. Many farmers work very little and then a great deal depending on the time of year. I'd leave my day job in a heartbeat if it were plausible to start from scratch without government assistance. Hopefully i've aquired enough to give my son a good start if he persues farming.

Bunch of Chinese money behind the land grabs. They drive the prices up so normal folks can't afford it.

And most of those 'good old boys' are died-in-the-wool GOPers.

'MURICA!

Farming can be good right now on inherited ground. Not if you have purchased your ground or are trying to purchase your ground. It will basically make it's own payment and at times it won't do that. Chinese money and city people who think that buying 5 acres makes them farmers is driving the cost up. You may be "rich" as far as holdings go but the cash flow isn't there.

To clarify one point, Missouri does have a law limiting China to owning 1% of agriculture land in the state.

It is hard for libs to not open their mouth and say stupid things but trying would help.

Yeah you republiberalcans prove that almost daily.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

They get around that. Like BK moving to Canada to avoid paying taxes. They just set up false company here and voila.."MURICA!

And the politicians are getting paid off so they turn their heads.

Greed is going to be our downfall.
