Another court case closed yesterday and the NCAA loses again. College sports has now become a minor league system. A ball up to the Majors.
24 year old men (or older) are going to be the norm. Heck I would've told my son to go JUCO if this change had been in place back then. Get your Associates, bulk up, finish your Bachelors in two years when you transfer and end up with a Masters by the time your eligibility is up.

I can't believe how upside down college athletics became so rapidly. Seriously, the Chiefs were just starting their run, none of this had happened yet, portal, nil, extra years granted, etc. You got guys in their upper 20s in the NFL where none of these changes had happened.

So if this holds up juco's will have the same eligibilty going into a 4 year school as prep schools? Only a whole lot less expensive I would guess.

high school coaches gonna have to rework their contact list, 80-90% of high school kids are heading to JUCO after this

I dont love this, BUT... I think if I'm a Missouri JUCO or Community College I'd add football immediately.
Imagining a world where I could go watch Longview play on a Thursday night.

I know Kemper Military had a football program for a woke back in the 90’s….has any other Missouri juco fielded football program?

Would open doors for some coaches that are retirement eligible on the HS scene too id think. Honestly this could send waves through the high school scene if it takes hold like most predict
I think where you would see the most programs being gutted is on the lower level NAIA level. If I'm a Missouri high school football player, maybe taking part in the A+ program, maybe not, would you rather go pay out of pocket mostly to go play at Ottawa or Central Methodist, are go play for a Juco, basically for free with the dreams of jumping to D2 or maybe on the off chance, D1.
Lot of kids I think jump at that to take their chance and see what they can do.
Meanwhile a school like NW or Western could build relationships at a couple JUCOs as their farm club.

Completely agree. This is the death blow for many D3 and NAIA schools for exactly the reason you said.

Some more thoughts. This is a disaster for NAIA and D3. Their enrollments are bloated with athletes. They prey on high school seniors ego and their parents and getting offers. They will not have the same pull with kids when they are 20 with an Associates degree and more of an about to be an adult mindset. They aren't going to see the benefit of paying 15-20k a year. This is going to upend the system rapidly. When you see the abysmal graduation rates you know how dependent they are on getting freshman dollars because they don't stick around. I predict a lot of pretty , empty buildings around the country in the next 10 years. Maybe they can convert all of them into housing since there seems to be a shortage.

Mo West and Mo Southern were both JUCOS at one time but long before the 90s. Wentworth had a program for a few years in the early 90s. Chiliicothe Business College also had a program many years back.
I believe moso went four year in 1969, but may be off a few yrs.
