Heard this on the radio yesterday (Art Hanes); what other conference talk have people heard about that we aren't talking about?

doubt that happens. Joplin just wants to cut down on travel . What upside is there for smaller conference schools allowing Joplin in the COC.

I think the COC is actually a better fit for Joplin. There is only one other class 6 school in the OC (Kickapoo) and rest are class 4 and 5 schools. The OC actually has 2 class 4 schools (west plains, Hillcrest) and the COC has 1 (Webb City). Not to mention Nixa is growing like crazy and are already close to class 6 enrollment (i have heard), and Ozark is not that far behind. I would have to look at the numbers but if you take Joplin out of the mix I bet The COC has a larger Average enrollment than the OC.

Here's what I've heard...and this won't apply until 17-18 school year...but COC small will be no more. OC takes in Central, L-R, Marshfield, Reeds (some questions on this one), and Bolivar. Breaks OC into big/small. Joplin seems to be the big question mark. My understanding is they want in COC, but COC schools won't approve it. Obviously that can change, but that's where it is now (or at least it was a couple months ago). And I think Joplin's status might be tied to Reeds being in or out.

Actually I looked at Current enrollment of the schools in the COC and Ozark and there is not that much of a difference in enrollments looking at the top ten Joplin and Kickapoo are the largest followed by Nixa and Ozark then two more Ozark schools and then again two more COC schools and then an Ozark.

Then you look at the smallest 6 Ozark has 4 schools there while COC has only two and drum roll please those are Webb and CJ so I would think they might want to add them? Unless like you said the smaller conference schools don't want them in? I mean Hillcrest and West Plains will play them and they are smaller.

Nothing against Branson, apart from distance of the trip but how about Branson to the OC and Joplin to the COC. That could work and would cut down a lot of travel.

Reeds would make more sense going to the Big 8 and taking CJ spot.

Boy not sure how that would work out Looking at enrollments...Plus that ride from Reeds to Rolla.

Bullit: this one will not happen. Your earlier idea is a lot more likely.

As a fan of the local teams in this area I would rather Kickapoo change rather than Joplin. The idea of Kickapoo vs Nixa, Republic and Webb would be great

From what I understood, Reeds was as, or more likely, to go to the Big 8 than COC. There was still some uncertainty, but it seemed to me like this was going to happen. At least from the conversation I had.

Big
Joplin (not if they can get in COC, which seemed unlikely to happen at the time)

Had heard the OC would look for one more team, that's where the Reeds discussion came in to play, if Joplin got in the COC. But it's my understanding, this will happen. Just not sure of where Joplin lands.

I think this is how it will shake out. Not even sure they'd want in the OC, but I thought they had expressed interest. This is how it falls, more likely, if Joplin stays in OC.

My understanding, Branson has no interest in that. Nor does Nixa/Ozark/Republic/Willard, which really kind of dominate the power of the OC. Sort of like the Springfield schools do in the OC. Not a knock on either, just a way to band together to keep their best interests in mind.

Parkview and Camdenton are not bigger than Glendale? So according to what you put on here it is not based on enrollment.

You thank Logan Rogersville is going to want to load up and travel that far for all sports? Hope they have a heck of a budget.
I have no idea, but the way I understand is there aren't a lot of options. If the COC does away with the small, that might be their only option. Half the trips (Marshfield, Bolivar, Hillcrest) aren't that far at all. But it's not always about what one school wants. Sometimes it's just the best of the options they have.

Well I know at one time the Big 8 and them were talking, But everybody wanted to see what happened to the COC small first. I would love to see us add Reeds and Rogersville.
