Heard this on the radio yesterday (Art Hanes); what other conference talk have people heard about that we aren't talking about?
Guy Newcome actually said it (on Art's show...)Did Art Hanes mention it or one of the callers?

I take it this news, then?
Here's what I've heard...and this won't apply until 17-18 school year...but COC small will be no more. OC takes in Central, L-R, Marshfield, Reeds (some questions on this one), and Bolivar. Breaks OC into big/small. Joplin seems to be the big question mark. My understanding is they want in COC, but COC schools won't approve it. Obviously that can change, but that's where it is now (or at least it was a couple months ago). And I think Joplin's status might be tied to Reeds being in or out.doubt that happens. Joplin just wants to cut down on travel . What upside is there for smaller conference schools allowing Joplin in the COC.
Nothing against Branson, apart from distance of the trip but how about Branson to the OC and Joplin to the COC. That could work and would cut down a lot of travel.

Boy not sure how that would work out Looking at enrollments...Plus that ride from Reeds to Rolla.

From what I understood, Reeds was as, or more likely, to go to the Big 8 than COC. There was still some uncertainty, but it seemed to me like this was going to happen. At least from the conversation I had.Boy not sure how that would work out Looking at enrollments...Plus that ride from Reeds to Rolla.

I think this is how it will shake out. Not even sure they'd want in the OC, but I thought they had expressed interest. This is how it falls, more likely, if Joplin stays in OC.Reeds would make more sense going to the Big 8 and taking CJ spot.
My understanding, Branson has no interest in that. Nor does Nixa/Ozark/Republic/Willard, which really kind of dominate the power of the OC. Sort of like the Springfield schools do in the OC. Not a knock on either, just a way to band together to keep their best interests in mind.Nothing against Branson, apart from distance of the trip but how about Branson to the OC and Joplin to the COC. Had heard the OC would look for one more team, that's where the Reeds discussion came in to play, if Joplin got in the COC. But it's my understanding, this will happen. Just not sure of where Joplin lands.
Huh?
I had Glendale at 1236, but that could've been old cycle numbers. Obviously the big/small stuff can change based on enrollment.Parkview and Camdenton are not bigger than Glendale? So according to what you put on here it is not based on enrollment.
Glendale 1361 Ozark
Parkview 1347 Ozark
Camdenton 1297 Ozark
I corrected it Glendale should move to the big and that would drop Camdenton to the small according to enrollment.Huh?
You thank Logan Rogersville is going to want to load up and travel that far for all sports? Hope they have a heck of a budget.I had Glendale at 1236, but that could've been old cycle numbers. Obviously the big/small stuff can change based on enrollment.
That wouldn't break my heartI corrected it Glendale should move to the big and that would drop Camdenton to the small according to enrollment.
I have no idea, but the way I understand is there aren't a lot of options. If the COC does away with the small, that might be their only option. Half the trips (Marshfield, Bolivar, Hillcrest) aren't that far at all. But it's not always about what one school wants. Sometimes it's just the best of the options they have. You thank Logan Rogersville is going to want to load up and travel that far for all sports? Hope they have a heck of a budget.
Aside from lamar both of them would fit fairly well travel wise. Bout hr 45 to lr and 2 hrs to reedsWell I know at one time the Big 8 and them were talking, But everybody wanted to see what happened to the COC small first. I would love to see us add Reeds and Rogersville.
