Joe Biden

I remember the big car/big engine days when you could pile 6 or 7 people in a car on Friday night and take laps around town!!

A buddy in high school had a 1970 something Pontiac station wagon, we called it the land yacht. Hell since there were no seat belt laws back then.. it was nothing to get up to 12 people in that thing and cruise up to Springfield for a Saturday night of fun, cannot do that these days.

One of my uncles in the 70's had a 60's Chevy wagon that he pulled all the seats out, put a couple of bucket seats up front and cruised the back roads in. Usually hauling a keg in the back and/or a mountain of beer cans. I guess the DWI gestapo were a little less prevalent in those days.

He disabled the back brakes on it so they could lock the front brakes up and do endless burnouts. Cheap gas + used tires = Clouds of smoky fun.

My first car was '64 Malibu SS it had a 283, 2 barrel and a power glide-2 speed automatic with bucket seats and a console. My brother was in the AF and brought it home from California when he was on leave before going to Nam. I was 17 at the time and he sold it to me for $700. I put set of Cragar mags on it and it was the it of HS. Later I had a '67 Camero SS, maroon with black vinyl top, a spoiler, hidden headlights and a 350 4-gear. I didn't know they made a 350 in '67 but we checked the numbers and it was original. It was pretty quick too. Still had that when my daughter was born and it was the only car we owned so it didn't last long. I sure wish I had both of them now in the same condition they were in back then. I sold the Camero for $1400, I can't even imagine what it would be worth now. :(
