they always get revised up.
From what I understand this isn't really counting the recently fired (that's just getting started)

Phew.

Honestly I have an issue with this.
I want to know where these bleeding heart Dems were back in the 90's when more people were losing their jobs because they had signed and enacted Nafta!!! I remember in the factory I was working every week we would move Jobs to Mexico, all the while Clinton who signed it and those Dems who voted with the Pubs all ratified it, told us better jobs would be created which never happened. Nobody was down there crying for us! They only seem to care when it hits close to home honestly.

Like they told me when I finally got laid off you can go back to school and get a real job not a factory because that is over.

Unfortunately, that is the way a lot of people are.
I did not like NAFTA and was not in favor of it. I wish there was a way to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Tariffs won't fix it.

Tariffs would have to be so high that people refuse to buy the imported product at that price, snd it becomes cost effective to make the product in the USA.

Adding $5000 to the price of an imported car does no good. Add $50,000 tariff so it is too expensive to buy then you will start manufacturing in this country again

Yea I remember Ross Perot warning about a “Giant Sucking Sound” of jobs leaving the country because of NAFTA but all of the experts laughed at him

It sure seems like it should be that simple, doesn't it. Regardless, the consumer still ends up being the one getting screwed in this scenario.

That's the big picture they are missing.
So Veer what is the answer? Millions of middle class jobs left for mexico does it seem like it has helped? Are cars cheaper today than they were back before Nafta. Based on inflation and purchasing power I would say no.

Since Nafta the middle class has been wiped out. The rich continue to get richer.

Capitalism does a lot of great things, but this is the only result that it is capable of in the long-term, NAFTA or not. There is truly no other way it can go.

NAFTA was good for big business and little else.

GOP used to be for free trade. Weird how they just bow down to rich oligarchs now.
