THE OZARKS
Helias and Capital City are Class 5
Jeff City High is Class 4.
That’s definitely a change

I knew Helias would be 5 but didn’t realize the enrollment was going to change that much for the other 2

In a few years with the continued big population growth in the BO school district I can see them come close to being Class 4. but of course that is far fetched.

BO district does their best to keep population down with rental housing move ins. New, big homes are okay and that costs a bunch out there. So it will not grow as fast as some would think or like it to.

Wardsville growth in the last 20 years has been unbelievable. I remember playing JV and freshman ball out there on that glorified cow pasture field.

Of course in that same time frame nothing compares to Grain Valley. They went from 2A school in the early 2000s to Class 5.

Slow down... Blair Oaks has a LONG way to go before catching up to class 4 given that they are only over the class 2/3 cut line by 3 kids. Yes, the district is growing, but historically it is only a few kids per graduating class, per year. 20 years ago, it was around 70 kids per class. 10 years ago it was around 100. This year it is around 125 in the class of 2022.

Lot of that is just being in the area. Blair Oaks was traditionally in the high 200s/low 300s in enrollment in the 90s and early 2000s. Got into the high 300s and 400s later in the 2000s and early 2010s. When Tipton left the Tri-County in 2000, Blair Oaks was the smallest quite a bit then - everybody else was high 400s to low 500s then.

Grain Valley was in the I-70 Conference when I coached at Santa Fe back in '81 & '82, Now Santa Fe plays 8-man...hard to believe they were in the same conference 40 years ago.

Its crazy to think. It's a shame the I-70 is no longer a football conference either. One of the best Class 1A leagues in the state. Glad to see the schools still playing football even if its at 8 man level though.

I remember playing Blair Oaks when they had to play home games at LU

I read this just now, then got on MSHSAA's website. Enrollment numbers and fall sports class breakdowns are posted.

Jefferson City High enrollment was always around 2600 students before the split

Well Jeff City has one BAD ASS stadium for a Class 4 team.

Bill Fox was a one of a kind, wonderful person. It’s sad and heartbreaking where his health has taken him
Bill Fox is certainly a legend in my book. I had the privilege to work with him at Santa Fe in 2000-2001, that year he won Class 1 State title. That team was crazy good. As a first year head coach right out of college, Santa Fe was such a great place with such high standards. Coach Fox helped me in so many ways and will always be appreciative of him.

He’s living in a memory care facility in Rolla, and Bonnie is living with Brendon & family there

i didn’t know that. I know when I was up visiting Tarkio 3-4 years ago, I believe he was still up there at that time, but I could be wrong.
I haven’t seen him since 2008 or maybe 2009
