Jasper 58 lockwood 20?

That'd be a great arrangement, if it could fully materialize; shoot, even add Carthage and CJ in the mix. Eagle Country shares district boundary with them as well. Nothing wrong with "word-of-encouragement" recruiting efforts. Let some kids that are not quite on second string depth chart on those programs move to where they could still play Friday nights, plus get some KC area high school sports coverage on good years. Also, by the way... after working around COC schools, I can tell you, Miller and Co are not powerhouses. Keep dreaming or staying on whatever you're on. Class One typically isn't. Except maybe Valle on good years, and Lamar even shoots that theory down.

Not a big Lamar fan I like underdogs but I'd fall over if Jasper was to get their 2nd team lol I'd think we'd see a run over a few years class 1 dont see besides Valle but I think Lamar's 2nd team could out score them lol.

I only asked the 8 man question because I feel a lot of small schools in SWMO are closer to 8 man than they want to admit. Oceloa is doing it, Greenfield just came off 8 man. Lockwood and Golden City would have done it in the 80s if it was an option. You go up north in the state and it’s accepted.

I think I saw were PC only has 2 seniors this year, if you have two bad classes like that back to back....who knows and it can happen.

I am not saying it can't happen but it is an annual struggle for some particular schools. The new conference was formed around schools who are stable in participation and enrollment so schedules can be reasonably dependable.

As for 8-man, chances are SW MO smaller schools will have to swallow the pride and accept it. I can see 8-man becoming Class 1 football someday, or vice versa. If a Class 1-size school feels they can still compete in 11-man on some years, they can simply compete in a Class 2 District. Of course, we could be like Kansas and be more willing to accept both levels. The Three-Rivers League has two divisions and schools bounce back and forth, depending on population on given years. It's an idea that may eventually have to come to Missouri. It would be beneficial, as more schools could preserve their programs and the history of them, and possibly a few more might start, although budget-wise, you have to have good money to start one. I can see some of the schools in the "solid" SW Conference that could have number problems on certain years. Someday, Sarcoxie and Pierce City may have to realize even married cousins have to separate if one needs to 8-man for a bit; hopefully they'll learn they can still be cousins. Hopefully someday, those schools and communities will realize it is still nice to have neighbors that can get along despite differences. Anyways, if we continue to allow a certain sect of the population try to dictate things, football will be stuck just trying to survive in general.

I foresee the wemo being down to two 11 man schools within 5 years. Maybe sooner.

And what then? Adrian would do the same thing we did if it was an option.
Wemo schools have been loyal to one another for 40 years. That continues from what i see. Complete opposite of down there.
There will be enough schools around to fill a schedule.
The question is how fast is lockwood gonna boot gc when mo goes to class 1 as the catch all?

GC may not even last long enough for Lockwood to dump them; they only graduated 8 last year. It may get to the point Lamar could swallow them up in consolidation without causing them them their Class 2 status. The entire GC school district is almost split between a few farming empires.

If the WEMO were to become an 8-man league or have an 8-man division, it would make the 8-man state trophy a more legitimate piece of hardware. More of the state would be represented than just the north side. And it would be a trophy for all true hardworking farm boys, as the WEMO is in that territory as well.

Im pretty familiar with the gc situation and you may be correct
Wonder if it would take lockwood 2 years to go 8 man then. Lockwood turned in 87 enrollment. Jasper and liberal 110 ...ac 86 rh 71 osceola 123 miller 137 gf 111..looks like gc is saving lockwoods bacon...
Will be interesting to see how things start shaking out next year

Monett has 6? Missouri hall of fame, class 4 Monett had 6 seniors out.

So, will the SW conference boot Lockwood then? That will be interesting to see. If so, will end up just like what the old Midwest Conference did back in the 80s. Jasper, Liberal, and perhaps Lockwood in a few years should permanently divorce themselves from certain schools in the old Midwest and current Southwest Conference forever. It's sad that those schools booted Jasper and Liberal once. But twice? And if they do it to Lockwood too in a few years? Watch your backs Lockwood! Sweet victory for Jasper Friday night!!!

How big is Golden City? With that co-op, it will keep Lockwood in 11 man for a few more years. All of these class one schools are going to have to co-op to keep out of 8 man. Ten years from now? It is going to be a lot different. Class 1 11 man may go the route of the private St Louis schools, where the kids are all directly recruited from youth leagues.

Gc may not be a school in a few years. Gs has carried lw many years.

Well to finally put my 2 cents in on the game against Jasper.
You gotta give credit where credit is due. They flat came out to play and looked really good. We weren’t sharp by no means but that had a lot to do with Jasper. I’ve never been really impressed through the years but this team is solid. They have speed, some size and can hit so Adrian and Midway better not take them for granted.
Now I feel a little dirty praising them so much so Eagle fans don’t get used to it.

Lol I'll take it. Lockwood games are always the game of the year for me. Hate losing and winning feels like winning the lottery lol

This may have been the intent but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen some low numbers on some of these teams in the past few years although I’m not very good at counting

I'm not sure about all that other stuff you guys are talking about, but if Jasper beat Midway and Adrian they would be my favorite to take the 1A title!
