Jackson

Why didn’t they attempt a fg in OT? Points are points.
It’s coach eckley. If you knew him, he hates to punt and loves to onside kick it if his kicker can’t kick it out of the back of the end zone. He’s a greedy and risk taking guy. Once witnessed him go for it in a playoff game, up by 14 and go for it on 4th and 27 from his own 30. That was the start of the avalanche that night

True. I had forgotten they were that far back. Now it makes more sense.

I told my wife when that happened I couldn't believe they wouldn't at least try it. Worst case scenario they would be in the exact same position they were in going for it. But I know nothing about that team so I'm sure the coach had his reasons

I hate Monday morning QBing coaches, but to me, the game was lost for Jackson when they got the ball with about six minutes left at about its own 35..

They were throwing the ball with great success but got all conservative on that possession, and I’ve seen that exact thing a million times in football. Get conservative, lose the game. They Run on first down, stupid reverse on second down then had a ball batted down on third down.

instead of going for it on fourth and four, they punt and the rest is history.

If it were me, the way that QB runs and throws the ball, him making a play is your best offense, not a reverse.

Jackson had a great year, two really good teams. I thought Carthage was a more well rounded team. Very few weaknesses across the field and their D Line was the difference IMO.

It’s hard to predict too much with all the class shake ups that are likely to happen, but I could see both teams making a run again next year as they’ll return a lot.
