The Jackson Lady Indians represented Missouri well at the 2015 Southern Illinois Preview Tournament on Saturday at Carbondale Community High School in Carbondale, Ill.
Jackson and Clayton were the only two Missouri teams in the tournament.
Jackson finished second in its pool after dropping a three-set thriller to Waterloo (Ill.) 23-25, 25-23, 14-16. The Indians then crushed Mt. Vernon (Ill.) 25-6, 25-12 and edged Massac County (Metropolis, Ill.) 23-25, 25-11, 15-10.
Jackson was the best second-place pool finisher, which sent the Indians to the four-team bracket tournament. The Indians faced Centralia first, which finished first in its pool with Clayton, Marion (Ill.) and Valmeyer (Ill.). Jackson downed the Orphans 25-18, 25-15. Carbondale eked out a three-set win over Waterloo 19-25, 25-16, 18-16 in the other semifinal to advance to the championship match with the Indians. Jackson swept the Terriers in a 25-17, 25-19 straight-set victory to clinch the first-place trophy.
Waterloo defeated Centralia 25-23, 25-16 for third place.
Jackson's Autumn Reid and Hannah Hunt were two of the five members who were named to the all-tournament team. The Indians improved their record to 6-3 and will face archrival Cape Central on Tuesday.
