Jackson vs FZN thoughts/predictions

Best place to play a football game in the state. Fans are rabid and the support is unbelievable AND they are right on top of you. As an official, I would rather call a regular season at Jackson than a semi-final or final at the dome or Faurot. Been fortunate to call games at every part of the state and in this humble man's opinion, this is the best. Coach Eckley would be crazy to leave.

Those were kind of my thoughts, too. Competed against Eckley‘s teams at Union. Definitely have to do your homework, his squads give you a lot to think about in every facet of the game.

From the outside looking in, it seems as if the Jackson/Eckley merger has been a good one.

I totally get that. A job like Kirkwood open where you can prob take a $20,000 + raise would be tough to turn down. He is certainly more than qualified. I have no knowledge or anything like that at all, just speculating.

I can’t see Jackson letting him get away for a measly $20k+. The culture there is perfect for him and a great environment for his sophomore son, too. I can see him establishing a dynastic program in Jackson.

I have no knowledge nor do I have a dog in the fight. The deal with the measly 20k is obviously how it affects your retirement. At the Parkway, Rockwood, Kirkwood, etc type schools, the head coaches can make $100,000. When you factor your retirement salary, a 20,000 dollar more salary boost could be another $1500+ a month salary for the rest of your life. He’s already had a ton of success at multiple places. You get to 25 years, you start to think about retirement implications. Again I have no insight about the situation, just thinking out loud.

Why would a 20k boost at those schools you mentioned account for a higher retirement income than the same boost to stay in Jackson?

And how did they fair against Carthage last year. Will definitely have a battle this year too making it past second place.
Won’t that be amazing if they make it all the way to the championship game two years in a row without having played “someone, you know, good?”

I’m not a math teacher but my guess is it would be the same. Is Jackson going to pay

I’m not a math teacher but I assume it would be the same.

If Jackson suddenly decides to pays their head football coach an extra $20,000 to coach, should the basketball and track coach get the same? What about the band director or the debate team sponsor? I could see that opening a can of worms if you are saying one program is much more important than another.

My point is many stl county districts can pay a great deal more off of salary schedule alone. My guess is a teacher at Kirkwood vs Jackson at 30’ years time is probably about $30,000 a part. Honestly I could careless, just throwing out ideas.

Plus have you seen the facilities at Kirkwood? The athletes they have their? Educational offerings they have.

I know the tradition of the Pit, nice turf field, fan support, etc.

But... then he’d have to live in STL County, too. There’s a reason teachers make more in the cities, don’t cha know.

I feel like I'm talking in circles here. Again the main implication is the retirement salary. He may be happy as can be and not interested. Or he may think like I would, if I can go somewhere as a teacher and coach and make 25,000 more, which will affect my retirement lifestyle, then I would be looking real hard. If you think Jackson is going to pay him an extra 20,000 to stay then that's great for him. I have no idea if he is looking or not, just throwing a thought out there.

Does Jackson play any teams that run the offense Webb Does? I think that is often an advantage Webb has when playing teams outside their are. It is hard to learn to defend in a week's time and hard for a scout team to learn and give their first team defense a decent look to prepare for.
