Sosa throwing home instead of taking the out at first was a killer.

Will Milwaukee be one game back by Friday?

If this forces a must win and Flaherty having to pitch the last game, we may as well not even go to the NLDS.

How about Ozuna bare-handing the ball off the wall, missing it, and allowing the extra base? Basically was the game. Why in the world is he trying to bare hand that ball?

will be interesting to see if the cubs are in spoiler mode, or in coast mode. im guessing coast mode, meaning they are out of it so rest their stars, play the backups and young guys. of course the young dudes can play with something to prove and get noticed. its always amazing to me that you can play 160 games and it still comes down to one or two games at the end.

I think they'll be all in to beat us. They'd like nothing better than to pay us back for last week.

You mean former gold glove winner Marcell Ozuna?
That's the one. I hope they gladly let him walk. Much rather see some combo of Thomas, Arozarena, JMart, O'Neill, and Bader run around the OF. I suppose Fowler too, but here's hoping they find someone willing to pay the rest of his deal this offseason. I'm tired of hearing how good of a year he's having. He's ok, that's it. Sure it looks better than the guy that was literally the worst hitter in MLB last year. But he's nothing special. Would rather them spend the money on a pitcher or another impact bat.

Has anyone on the Cardinals roster this year played a better all around game than Arozarena last night? Steal of home, HR, and outfield assist. He looks much better at the plate than master Bader.

I wouldn't be disappointed with losing either one of them either. And while we're at it, it wouldn't upset me if they got a decent return for CMart too.

I hate the fact that we have opened the door for the Cubs to get the last laugh. Hopefully Schildt will do what he had the guts to do to Carp and bench make an out every time he bats with RISP Bader and stick with Randy A and see if he can continue what was a stellar outing Wed.

No way on CMart for me. I'm very comfortable with him as the #4 starter next year. He's been extremely valuable this year. He's done a really nice job in the closer's role. The pitching really looks good going into next season.

Yeah I hear ya. And he has been pretty good the second half. But I just don't care for the drama that seems to surround him. I'd much rather have a dull boring comparable talent guy. Although I'm not sure how many of those guys will be available.

Truth. But they typically cost a little more than the homegrown drama queens.

Not if you get a level-headed, talented player in return for CMart.
Carlos has #2 starter potential and a solid contract. You gotta let him play his way back into being more valuable.

He's been pretty useful overall this year, too. He'd just be more valuable going 180 innings.

Give me the best players. I don't care about their twitter feed. As long as they all are getting along in the locker room...we will win plenty of games.

I'd rather have Carlos Martinez than the nonsense we hear later about "boring guys" like Bud Norris who are hazing our rookies.

I don't want 25 Carlos Martinezes...you gotta have your guys who you can pencil in. But you can't walk away from guys whose upside is quality starter on a WS caliber team to turn them into Mike Leake or something like that

Give me a Flaherty-type any day of the week and twice on Sunday, and you can have all the CMarts you want. Reliable and level-headed as opposed to inconsistent and moody.

Yes, please, I love to trade inconsistent #2-3 starters for aces of other teams who just spent 3 months pitching like their name is going to be on the Cy Young next year. But, who on earth is going to make that trade with us?

Flaherty is pitching on a level that Martinez has never hit even at his highs. And he's a number of years younger.

The question is more "would someone trade Mikolas for C Mart" than "would someone trade Flaherty for C Mart"

I didn’t say anyone would. All I said is I’d take a Flaherty-type (level-headed, mature, willing to listen, etc.). You made my point. Who’d want someone who is inconsistent, moody? Read what’s on the lines, not what you think is between them.

Some of us are remembering the Carlos of 2015 and 2016 instead of the injury prone, didn’t rehab like he was asked, inconsistent, immature Carlos of the second half of 2017 (27 dingers) and 2018.

Now maybe this stint in the bullpen is what he needed to get back on track. We shall see. Carlos at his best would be a fine #2 starter.

I agree with just about everything you said, except...I still think Carlos at his best is near one of the best right arms in the game. When his change is good and he’s locating the sinker, he’s lights out. The slider is always there. He says he wants to be in the rotation. Let’s hope all of what happened this season taught him something.

I think you have to let him try to work it out. Really, he's been pretty dependable from the pen this year once he came back. Let him build strength back up and come back as #3-#4 next year.

If he gets right again he won't be a 3 or 4 on this team.
