Is Bailey going to Republic?

I would be surprised if he leaves before the 2018 season but, anythings possible. I think he has concord class 2 football. He may ready for a new challenge.

The right jobs don't always open up on your time frame.......Republic is getting ready to build a new stadium but not sure they have the horses or the desire to compete with the big dogs of the COC. Not since Miller left has Republic been a consistent winner.

Yep but over the years we have seen some really good coaches leave republic no better than when they arrived. Not saying Bailey cannot do it, but it just looks like a really tough place to change the mentality and win constantly.[/QUOTE

I agree, nothing against Wes, but they did have a Hall of Fame Coach they ran out of there a few years ago.

It would be to his benefit to throw his hat in the ring when various opportunities present themselves. I think he's earned the right and privilege to explore where he might want to take his career. It would be a big impact on us, but I, for one, have nothing but support for him. That said, "Please don't go."

That would be a huge move, and could make for some pretty stiff competition. If class 1 becomes catch all, you could see (Republic, if he has same success as previous stops) Webb, Kearney, Staley.... and so on, definitely a way deeper field than he is used to.

I'm sure the job would be his if he wanted it, but any news of other guys names who are in the pot?

That is the key does he want it? My question, is this really a top job or coveted football job in SWMO? Not like Republic has a proud tradition in football and not like they have a proven record of supporting a football coach? I know when Depee left Monett for Ozark, Monett was offering him the same exact pay that came with the Ozark job, so can Republic pay better than Ozark which is what it will take to lure somebody like Bailey?

Can't really argue with that. Bailey can do no wrong in Lamar. Very hard hard these days to get an entire community behind a program like he has done, and just be able to coach the game without being questioned or harassed by outsiders, and I don't know if it is even possible in Republic to do so. Looking at some of the coaches Republic has ran off would cause some hesitation as well. Any of the Webb staff, or possibly Uhl at Monett apply for this job?

I don't know about Webb, are any on the staff ready for a head job?
As for Uhl leaving Monett for Republic? not sure it would interest him, As for money again Monett was able to match dollar for dollar what Depee was going to make at Ozark so can Republic pay more? As for support Uhl has total control of the football program, we run his offense and defense from third grade on up so in a few years he will see that start to pay off. He can get almost anything he wants new headsets practice gear the support is there, I don't know about Republic. And when he was hired he was able to bring in alot of his coaches.

He didn't apply for the job. It's just internet fodder. Made for some action on the boards, so I guess that is good.

if he didn't leave for Branson I wouldn't think he would leave for Republic... but I guess every situation is different

It might not be a money deal, some guys might just be interested in making the jump from the Big 8 to the COC. As stated apparently Bailey didn't even apply, and I doubt he would ever leave that program after what he has done there, and being a hometown guy. Uhl is probably in a pretty good situation then at Monett as well. Undoubtedly there had to be some good applicants for this job. Just hope REPMO gives the next guy a chance and has realistic expectations.

As for Uhl he could have applied I don't know, if he leaves us good luck to him, I hope he doesn't leave, but one thing I have learned Monett will continue to be successful and why is that... because Uhl is not probably in a pretty good situation he is in a D@mn fine situation in Monett. Because the town wants to win and the town is behind the program just look at the millions of dollars the community donated to get turf and other projects to support the football team. You wont always find that kind of support at every coaching stop, so the grass is not always greener.... Always think hard before jumping.

Not trying to start any problems here, but that D@mn good situation wont be as good when monett undoubtedly goes to class 4 in the near future. Heard through the grapevine that one of the nixa assistants was a lead candidate so who knows. Any word on Aurora, Nevada, or Branson?

Why does something change when you go class 4 besides possible facing Webb? We have known for years that we would be class 4, Uhl even mentioned it when he was hired that he looked forward to the challenge of building a program and competing with the best.

Joplin Globe has an artical that ex republic coach Wes Beachler has been hired at Neveda which is where he was before. Talk to a good source at Aurora and nothing yet for them.

It would be an interesting proposition to move.... but if Bailey is from Lamar that wouldn't seem to be a likely move. It seems it would be difficult to replicate what's going on in Lamar in a place like Republic, which would strike me as a much larger and less cohesive community. Especially if you aren't from there and you are looking to implement a tradition from the ground up. A new stadium might draw extra crowd for a few games, but once everyone has seen it, unless there is excitement on the field, the stadium is kind of irrelevant. In Carthage, some were citing the lack of a modern sports facility as a reason families interested in athletics often choose Webb City or in some cases CJ when choosing a school system upon moving into the area. Personally I think it has more to do with WC's 28 championships or whatever it is, rather than the stadium in which they play. WC had a pretty crappy stadium too, much worse than Carthage until just a few years ago.

I just can't see any advantage. Sure, it's a much larger school and community but so what? The stadium might be nicer than Lamar, but I can't imagine that being enough to draw him out. Unless he is just personally looking to advance his career and sees this as a stepping stone and higher pay, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But even at that, I would think he would be looking for a larger school where he could continue a tradition, rather than trying to build something from the ground up. Or at least a larger place with some late successes that may not be considered a "football town" but has some support and good pieces in place. I'm thinking places like Nixa, Carthage, Kickapoo, maybe Neosho. Or even another smaller town that is still a step up in terms of size, like Monett.

Facilities at Republic are top notch. Big school district that's growing like Nixa and Ozark.

Hard to believe that Baldwin would live Neosho for Republic, Neosho seems to be on the rise. But Joplin Globe has a nice article says his wife is from up around that area so they are splitting the difference living in the middle of family.

Yes they do and he was really starting to get something going. Neosho was fortunate to have him over the past few years. Hope Republic doesn't run him off. He is a good guy and a good football coach. Can't really blame a guy for moving closer to family. I wish him the best of luck and hope he can get things rolling in Republic.

Republic is building a new stadium with turf, so that alone will make it a more attractive position. With the growing school and community it seems that there will always be decent talent there. Tough to win there though. Not a ton of football history and they have had some good coaches recently that couldnt turn the corner with the program so to speak. Each coach has put them in a respectable position, not like they didnt win games, but it's just darn tough to win a ton of games in the COC Large division.

People keep talking about the lack of Football History at Republic... but there was a time they owned the COC.

There was also a time when gas was 15cents/gal. I really do hope the best for Republic, and I hope Baldwin gets them competitive, but the reality is the teams on the eastern half of this conference are going to struggle to consistently win conference championships. I'm not saying it won't happen, because it will. With the size of these schools they are bound to eventually put a group together that can do it. It will just be very tough for them to string years together when they are going against Webb, CJ, Carthage where football is king. The exact opposite statement could be made for the Eastern schools in basketball. There won't be any conference champions coming out of the west anytime soon there. I've stated this in other threads but football is just a much higher priority in the western schools.

Unless someone has ties to Neosho, it seems perfectly logical to me to make the move to Republic. It's larger, growing, and with much nicer facilities in an area that might get more notice. If he has family in the area then it's a no brainer. On the rise isn't really a term that comes to mind when I think of Neosho. It's a fine town, but doesn't strike me as a place where people are moving just because it's desirable and growing. On the other hand I think you could say that about Republic and most of the other COC communities.

I wonder what will be next or Neosho - they seemed to have some momentum going after what I think was a couple recent winless seasons. Which on second thought, maybe that is what you meant by on the rise - their football program. Which yes, I would agree with that. But I think he was largely responsible for the recent improvements.
