Injunction filed states that Licking and other schools had participants as well

Doesn’t matter, a judge can order the entire Class 2 State Vball tourney be postponed if he wants to (I’m not a fan of lawyers either, but SOMEONE has to stand up to MSHSAA…)
Sure but it has to happen fast.

Good for Houston.

For years I tried to defend MSHSAA and give them the benefit of the doubt, but they continue to make the most asinine decisions.
Yeah saidly I was one also that generally gave them the benefit of the doubt but they've totally lost me in the last few years. I'm glad to see Houston trying to make them justify this lunacy.

BAHAHHAAHAHHAHAHA. What a Flustercuck

Wait, what? How many kids played in this tournament? How can Licking both have kids that played in the same charity tournament, and advance?

Please explain.

I am probably one of the few people on this forum who has sat in the MSHSAA conference room and watched them crush a kids elegibility in person on a vote of 8-7(if I remember correctly).
I hope they come crashing down in the near future.

I have sat at that table too. They earn every bit of derision they get.

I like it when a player is deemed ineligible by mshsaa, then it is appealed. The appeal goes on behind closed doors with others and they can not talk about why it was over turned..

A few notes from the filing -
  • I love that one of the cities involved in Licking. It's just fun to read.
  • I enjoyed HSD calling out the fact that MSHSAA is profiting off student athletes and their abilities
  • MSHSAA's response was comical with the pages of legalese and fluffed up with tons of references to cases from other states with different laws.
  • I like MSHSAA stating this would undermine their authority.
  • MSHSAA did not address the accusation that Licking is guilty of the same offense as Houston, if it is indeed an offense. That would muddy up this situation entirely too much.

“The defendants pray for an order denying..”

My goodness, MSHSAA.

I went down the dark rabbit hole which is Facebook comments on the O Zone. According to the Licking folks - the girls were alums who played in the tournament not current players. And really if other schools had girls play unless they were still alive in the districts wouldn't factor into this.

While mshsaa may be the biggest asshats of all time I really hate that after this year every mshsaa decision will go to court for those that can't be accountable to their actions. Not saying houston girls shouldn't have been allowed to play in tournament in my opinion.

Agreed that's why MSHSAA should have done their due diligence and made the right decision.

They are either lazy or incompetent.

Who knows how the players react to all of this. Game pushed back to 715

Those all day tournaments that volleyball plays are played at moment's notice. I think they will be fine. But still its got to be crazy.

Anyone else catch that licking had been on the bus for an hour and a half win they were told to turn around. As a parent I would be upset, kids are just being pawns. Possible lawsuit there??? Crazy.
Can you imagine the scene on that bus? Crazy emotions I’m sure. The seniors see their season end twice in less than a week.

I like the judge’s ruling and reason.

Not saying it an’t possible right, just feel for this kids and schools. This is getting ridiculous, again part of me likes it, but then part me thinks will MSHSAA ever be able to enforce any rules without getting lawyers and judges envolved? What message are we sending kids?

The judge essentially said it is insane to disqualify an entire team because one player participated in a charity event that violated no by-laws, in particular when the team being advanced in their place also participated, meanwhile no investigation ever occurred and Houston self reported the apparently non-violation which was the only reason this whole chain happened to begin with.

Looking like maybe not all the truth is out there. Coach from Licking said MSHSAA called them and investigated if they had players in that tournament? So
