I’d say Matt Campbell. Iowa st isn’t deep at talent but are winning. Missouri has a lot more talent to work with and I don’t think it would break the bank to get him.

the issue will always be the Jimmie and joes instate. a traditionally mediocre program sans perhaps the 60s 70s cant win consistently without instate talent. even bluebloods some years miss out on top talent. before kirby i recall Georgia one year missing out on their top 10 in state kids, but they can recruit regionally and nationally if needed. i hope hcbo will work out cuz a hc not connected to Missouri wont stay if he overachieves consistently. a bigger program will snatch him up.$$$$

Let's be real, at the end of the day Mizzou football is going to let us down. We deserve someone at the helm that will at least put a smile on our faces. I fully endorse Mike Leach in 2020.

Not sure why someone would leave Iowa State or Washington State to go to Missouri.

If I'm Leach, the allure of seeing what my offense can do against SEC competition, getting to recruit St. Louis and Kansas City instead of Seattle and Pullman, not having another D1 school in state to compete with recruits for, and the overall history of Missouri is the reason I'd come. The dude loves pirates and has an eclectic sensibility, you don't think he'd get into our Civil War, frontier exploration, river piracy, bootleggers, baldknobbers, Jesse James and Samuel Clemons?

I think Missouri is just the place for him to spend a decade. Like another poster said, even if we don't win, at least we'll be entertained.

Dont forget the Knob Nosters

Unless you throw a bunch of money at him not sure why Campbell would leave Iowa State for MIZZOU... Its not exactly a step up.

1. Recruiting StL/KC instead of Iowa City and Ames.

2. SEC>Big 12 from a competitive standpoint.

3. Not a second class citizen like in the Big 12 - Mizzou gets the same amount of $ from the SEC as Bama and Georgia get, does Iowa State make Texas or Oklahoma money?

4. Not positive, correct me if I'm wrong, better facilities and incentive + money to keep upgrading.

You can be in a 2nd class conference (Big 12), or you can be a 2nd class citizen within your conference (Missouri).

The 2nd class citizen in the SEC still gets paid the same as the blue bloods.

Iowa State is a 2nd class team in a 2nd class conference. Heck they're not even the most notable Division 1 team in their state.

That's entirely the point.

Iowa State is a better team than Missouri right now.

Purely because of their coach.

What else do they have going for them?

If their coach was offered the Mizzou job (you know, the point of the thread) how would it be "down grading"?

its not..the sec is a better conference from top to bottom in the big 12 and its not even close. no program would leave the sec for the big 12. however sans texas and ou every other team would bolt to the sec. texas wouldnt leave cuz harder competition and they couldnt keep the Longhorn network as its currently situated. ou doesnt want to leave cuz of said competition and the rrr they have with texas. anyone who thinks the fruits of the big 12 are better than the sec arent just ignorant they are intellectually challenged to say the least.

Gimmie Kiffin. He’s grown up. And the dude can flat coach and recruit. If he says no, throw a pot at Leach. Either one would be entertaining and good coaches.

Iowa St might be a better team in 2019 under Campbell but Missouri is a better program. The SEC angle is mostly irrelevant. Missouri was a better program in the Big 12 or Big 8 and would be a better program if they were in the Big 10.

If I were Campbell I would move. I don't think Washington St is a superior program but if Leach were to leave Wazzu I think there would be some other higher profile programs interested. If he were to go to somewhere like USC or Florida St look out.

I think leach thrives in the obscurity that Wazzu gives him he's not in the national spotlight like if he was at those other big name schools. I think Columbia would be a good spot for him but the spotlight of the SEC would probably be a detractor for a guy like him

Doesn't matter. Has Missouri EVER been a player on College Football's main stage?

what exactly does that mean?
with regard to recruiting? Ranking?

In 2013 they were ranked #5 going into the SEC title game. A game in which they scored 40 points. is that being a player?

Mizzou is the only campus with snowflakes?

Nope, tons of liberals on almost every college campus.

Not the point though.

If I'm hiring, I'm tossing money at:

1. Mike Leach
2. Matt Campbell
3. Lane Kiffin
4. Luke Fickel
5. Alex Grinch
6. Dave Aranda

In that order.

If all else fails, kick the tires on Art Briles. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Answer to that is what is the highest MU football has ever been ranked at the end of the year??

#4. 2007
#5. 2013
#5. 1960
#6. 1969
#6. 1965

Not very impressive to say the least for 60 years of football

I think for equal money, you're right. That's the one advantage MU could have, the money. The SEC makes that possible. But Campbell makes $3.5M. Are you really going to throw that kind of money at him? I'd say you'd have to get to $4.5M to even make it worth his while...Same can really be said for Leach too. These guys aren't going to make a move purely for the competition in the SEC. You're going to have to outpay where they are. And Leach makes $3.75M. But Kiffin...He doesn't make near that. Just saying.
