if he had bet with a few people 3 or 4 weeks ago on the Birds having a 2 1/2 game lead before he end of August. I sure wouldn't bet on that holding up til the end of September but the pitching has been pretty nasty for little while now and the bats have come around too. Could be a fun race the rest of the way.

They need to kick Milwaukee while they are down the next three days. They do still have a series vs the Nationals, who are on fire, and I believe a 4 game set at Wrigley, where the flubbies still have a good record. Those final 3 games at Busch could be for all the marbles.
