How to shut down your Trump-supporting family member at Thanksgiving dinner

You said Free Markets are the only cure to poverty. Alzheimer’s
The market is as free as it ever been. Capitalism is the cure for poverty. Pooling local tax dollars to pay for socialistic endeavors is called local government all paid for through capitalism.
Hiring a good electrician is exploiting human beings on the basis of their technical skills is the freest market available.
If we want to talk about socialism why does it offend you when I point out it has claimed the lives of millions? This is not to say Bernie Sanders or OC will turn into tyrannical murderers but it is ironic that Bernie has praised Hugo Chavez and all their campaign dollars are generated from capitalism.

Gop isnt for free markets

you go on. There are so many oligopolies in existence now, and why? Limited competition means more profits. The number of corporate mergers allowed in the past 25 years is all you need to know. Study up.
And you want to replace this with?
Since the fall of the Soviet Union extreme poverty in the world has been cut in half. This didn't happen by raising the minimum wage.

If we don't have the taxation you call 'theft' how would the government run at any level? The government has no income except our tax money, what do you propose to take s it's place in cities, counties, states and the federal government?.
Do you know when the income tax started and what the rate was? What did we do before it?

Nah I stopped doing homework long time ago. Where the gubmint get all it's money back in the day? Had to come from some kind of tax cause the gubmint prints money but it doesn't 'make money'.

Without looking it up, I think it was 1916 and about 1% on the rich.
So we survived 150 years without it.

You can turn off Nazi TV...I mean FOX and do some homework or keep being fed repub propaganda.

I agree. Watch the morons from Chuck Todd down through the rest of state DNC TV to get the full disgust of communism.

If we agree with you on some issues, will you at least admit that Fox and Repubs in congress defending Russia is at least a bit startling?

You can turn off CNN and do some homework or keep being fed the liberal propaganda.
You are the one saying the government ran without tax money, I just asked to you tell what they did run the government. Who and what did they impose tariffs on that brought in enough money to run the country.

The "government" didn't see to provide for everyone and everything. Didn't need much. Are you denying that we didn't tax income?

Nope, I ain't that old and it still takes money to run country. You say they did it with tariffs and I asked on who but still don't have the answer.

I seriously don't understand how a human being can even watch 45 seconds of CNN. Or really even Fox for that matter. Both are unwatchable. You have to look at the facts:

- 5 million+ jobs created
- Unemployment is under 4%
- Manufacturing added 284,000 jobs in 2018, the most added in a year since 1997
- The USMCA Bill would be great for the US

I could go on. No matter what party you affiliate yourself with, facts do not lie. And you have to put your egos aside and think about what is best for the country. His tweets really bother you that much? Maybe look in the mirror or look past it. Who cares. I don't agree with everything he says and does but the facts don't lie. You cannot debate the things he has done. The ONLY reason the Dems are trying to impeach him now is because they know he will win again in 2020.

And no, I did not vote for him in 2016 and am unsure if I will be voting for him in 2020, unless Biden is the Dem nominee.

The Dems think the leftist show will win them the senate. It's a good distraction from a field of commies and a man far beyond his time.

Congress re-adopted the income tax in 1913, levying a 1% tax on net personal incomes above $3,000, with a 6% surtax on incomes above $500,000.

In other words, $3,000 in 1913 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $76,092.98.
A person making $76,000 today, would not be considered "rich".

Whatever. Would you consider 1% on anything over 76K to be fair today? Sounds great to me. I bet those making half a mil would like the 6% rate too. Before that we had no income tax other than periodic for real special needs.

All the cable "news" networks have opinion shows that aren't news. The difference between them is how much opinion is allowed in the actual news segments but you are correct that A person shouldn't need a network to tell them what to think.
Trump was elected because people had seen enough of the liberal attempts to take over what we can buy, use, and say.
No one who is serious thinks we are hanging by a perilous thread if we don't adopt "green" policy. Most don't think guns are the problem. Most don't think abortion is restricted too much. Most don't think we need open borders. Most don't want to be told America is the problem. Trump was just the first person they believed would actually try to do what he said......and he has.

I don’t want to agree with this. But it’s 100% the case today.

So now you tell me we DID have an income tax 'for special needs' but you didn't mention that before. You still have NOT told me who had to pay the tariffs you spoke of, how much they were or what they were on?

I believe the only time we had an income tax previously was to sponsor WW1. That was hardly routine.
The tariff info is widely available and doing your homework won't change anything.

This type of rhetoric will be the reason a second civil war breaks out. And people like you who fanned the flames will sit there and act surprised when it happens.
