I wondered why he wasn't tossed for the contact too. Whatever that dude said to him sure set him off and apparently the ump thought it was pretty bad too.
It was extremely unprofessional for Lovullo to bring Yadi into his argument and to do so with vulgarity directed towards him made it many times worse. The ump apparently agreed and handled the situation accordingly. The manager should be disciplined by the league as well. You don't go out on the field and cuss opposing players. To me it says a lot about Lovullo's character that he would do so.The ump must have been really pissed at the manager for what he did/said.
Yadi and the ump are buddies and the ump probably hates the Cubs! Good reason to do what he did yesterday.Contreras was suspended when his mask bounced backwards and tapped an umpire on his padded shin
I thought Doug Vaughn explained it pretty well yesterday on TMA. Lovullo basically started his argument with the ump by saying "you're letting this mother f&*^%$ determine the strike zone". As DV said, Lovullo probably talks this way all of the time with his coaches and players (like many others in pro sports). Yadi took it personally. Riot ensues. He wasn't cussing Yadi, per se. I don't really have a problem with Yadi taking issue with it. But don't really see Lovullo as doing something that terrible either. It happens. Yadi probably runs a little hotter than most, which I totally dig.It was extremely unprofessional for Lovullo to bring Yadi into his argument and to do so with vulgarity directed towards him made it many times worse. I can agree with most of this. I still think a manager should show more respect to opponents. You want to talk that way within your inner circle, fine. But I think it's disrespectful to talk that way to others. Personally I don't care for that kind of language anytime so that obviously affects my thoughts.I thought Doug Vaughn explained it pretty well yesterday on TMA. I'd agree all the way around. I'm on the other side of the spectrum, the language doesn't bother me at all. But still, not the way I'd wanna go about things if I'm Lovullo. But I also think there are a ton of catchers that wouldn't have said a thing back. But again, it's one of the things I dig about Yadi that he did. Doug usually has a pretty reasonable take on things. He's also extremely comical. One of the better follows in my opinion. When he gets on a rant you can't help but LOL. I bet he has the others in the studio rolling on the floor.
I heard part of that this morning. His rant on the pitcher catching a pop up is always hysterical too. He's a great follow on twitter as well.I'd agree all the way around. Doug is a dandy, at least on the radio. Only time I ever get to hear him is on TMA. His rants are just awesome. His takes on the supposed MFF story on today's show were just pure radio gold.
That and intentionally fouling off a pitch. The courtesy shuttle/Katessi Shuttel and cell phone company rants, I could listen to them 100 times and split my sides laughing every single time...His twitter cracks me up. Rant on Birds/Blues. Retweet some conservative politics. And like some smoking hot models pic.I heard part of that this morning. His rant on the pitcher catching a pop up is always hysterical too. I get a kick out of all the places I see that. Literally saw a sticker on a bathroom stall in a truck stop in like Kingdom City or somewhere like that along I-70. Just giggled...The Mickelson putt is just fantastic.#freedotem
I also love how him and Biff hangout all the time together. I'm sure about 90% of Biff's stories are fiction, but you know that guy gets after it.#freedotem
Molina did get suspended for a game. Look at the replay. He didn't just bump the ump he pushed him too.
He had dropped his appeal and took the day game off yesterday for his one game. MLB suspended him when the up thought he was justified in his anger and was NOT going after the ump but the manager who should be suspended. He drove in 3 runs during his suspension tonight.

Yeah and Votto getting picked off with the tying run at the plate and 2 outs before that. The Reds are just horrendous. I hope Holland is ready soon. We got away with some meatball pitches in the 9th tonight.

Can't push an umpire, you know that. The umpire crew disagrees but he sat out his game so everybody can be happy. The umpire could have moved aside and let it go, then lots of people would have been suspended. He handled it about as well it could have been and MLB did their thang. I haven't heard what the manager got for his part in it.Can't push an umpire, you know that. Umpires don’t get to decide who gets a suspension. Might be more fun if the did though. Lovullo got one game too...Btw, yes the ump could’ve moved out of the way. Or the other two adults in the situation could’ve acted as adults. Yadi overreacted. Lovullo used words he shouldn’t have. It happens. They pay the price. Personally, I like this side of pro sports. I tire of all the PC machines and personalities. I like it when it gets a little salty. The umpire crew disagrees but he sat out his game so everybody can be happy. Bingo. Which is exactly what he did.who cares about 1 game from a baseball standpoint, all you had to do was appeal until the next day you wanted to take off anyway
