How are all of you doing?

Depends on the fungus. They’re all as different in flavor and texture as different vegetables are.

By the way for whoever cares: Found 42 nice morels today. Hilltops or near hilltops. N/S crest didn’t seem to matter.

The key today was ASH TREES. All but two were found colonizing on ash trees.

Happy hunting!

My favorite to eat are chanterelles in a bacon potato soup. Elephant Ears May be over morels for me as well.....

Maybe because I find those more than morels.

Chanterelles are a favorite here, too.

I use my morels for ONE recipe only and we only have it once annually.

Trust me, and thank me later. Use morels as your mushrooms, of course,

So I hit a spot in Lafayette county and my families farm in Carroll country on Saturday. Found 4 medium sized greys in Lafayette and about 25 small greys in Caroll. All were found on oak trees. It always amazes me how far behind Spring is even just 20 or 30 miles north. If the temps and moisture rebound quickly, I've got high hopes for Carroll county!!

If you all are ever in Lee's Summit, James A Reed conservation area has a bunch of Willows around the ponds that produce oyster mushrooms. Deep gills that hold batter really well. Tasty shrooms!!

I've never knowingly eaten a morel or chantilly - or whatever you call it. Are they good on pizza?

YES I use morels on pizza.

Chantrelles are a higher class of mushroom. Steak houses pay a premium during the season. I am fortunate to have a good spot here on the homestead. Pick 1 out of every 4.

@RawMeat @shoot90draw have you ever had the motivation to grow your own? Two of my buddies grow various types in wood(drilled holes)and have moderate success.

We had snow last night in Mercer County. Nobody care about mushrooms at the moment because the weather's been crappy. That said, we're ready to go track the little bastards down.

I've grown oyster mushrooms before. Very easy to do. I bought a kit and it also had wood with drilled holes. I have never see or read about anyone successfully growing morels though.

Ah yes. Bosko is screaming about losing weight and making threats of chats. Order has been restored to MoSports.

I'm one of the 1 in 50 million or whatever who got it... Sucks.. but all I have now after 8 days is shortness of breath and no stamina. Pretty well the same crap you deal with when you hit the big 60.. Wife is showing a little compassion (unbelievable) and the kids, grandkids tested negative. Employer is allowing me to work at home so hopefully I will have this behind me and be ready to tackle turkey season in a couple of weeks. A friend of mine who caught it from his wife is currently at SE Hospital at Cape with IV's stuck in him and on oxygen. This stuff can get mean. Please keep your families safe.
So I am nearing the end of day 3 with a complete and total loss of smell. Did you experience that at all? I've been reading that many asymptomatic and mild cases experience this and I gotta say, its unlike any loss of smell/taste I've ever had.

Normally, total loss of taste and smell is accompanied with a stuff nosed and the inability to breath. I have none of this. I noticed a slight bit of sinus pressure and the ever so slightly scratch throat on 4/30 and 5/1. After having done an excessive amount of yard work and mowing earlier in the week, I assumed allergies. The morning of 5/2 absolutely NO taste or smell but the scratchy throat is gone. No fever or cough.

Follow up. I got tested this morning and got my results an hour ago. I am positive.

It started with lite sinus pressure and a slightly scratchy throat last thurs-fri. Saturday morning. BAM! Total loss of taste and smell. I've noticed some headaches and had diarrhea the last 2 days. The only constant has been no taste and smell.

So tomorrow marks a week I've been showing symptoms. I'll give updates as they (hopefully dont) develop.

Hang in there and I will be praying for you.
I travel for a living and I am one of those that think I may have had it way back in February. My sense of smell is still occasionally acting up. I have self quarantined myself twice thru this whole ordeal.

Please get well.

During your self-quarantine you can view some of our favorite football documentaries. I suggest Rudy. Its a heartwarming tale set at one of my favorite universities. Anyone else have suggestions for a good doc?

I do own All the Right Moves on blu ray

Keep hanging in there...a co workers daughter and son in law got it, they are both healed up. The son in law was really close to getting admitted to the hospital he got really bad, but his daughter never had any symptoms that she could tell. But it took her almost an extra week to kick it. They live up in Ohio.

How you doing Shoot???
About the same. 5-15 marked my 2 weeks of first showing "symptoms" and 5-16 was the 2 week mark for "serious" symptoms. Today was my 2 week anniversary of testing positive.

The morning of 5-2 was when I totally lost the ability to taste and smell. I had been making a slow recovery, with the ability to smell slightly ahead of taste. Both seem to have plateaued in recovery these last few days. I've had a few other symptoms sprinkled in since 4-30 but the loss of taste and smell has been the only constant.

I'll gladly take not tasting and smelling over not breathing and being on a ventilator though!

Rudy is a total fraud. No one turned their jerseys in. The stadium wasn’t chanting his name. Just his parents and a few people sitting with them. Most of the other players thought he was an arse clown. All of this info came from Joe Montana. The movie makes Dan Devine look like a jerk when he was anything but.

Rudy was a loser who couldn’t hold a job and spent years desperately trying to get a movie made about himself. Then he tried to be a public speaker. My daughter saw him speak when she was in HS and said he was horrible. Fraud.

Nice to know you have a deep hatred towards Rudy and an odd obsession with Gerry Bertier.

Hence, the term "heartwarming tale." Rudy was like a documentary about football that wasn't actually factual.

Perish the thought..

No other symptoms, eh?
Oh I've had several 2 or 3 day long symptoms during all this, but nothing out of the ordinary.

The highest my temperature ever got was 99.4F and that was only for like half a day. I had 2 days of lite sinus pressure, a slightly scratchy throat, and a non-regular lite cough. Those were actually my first 2 days of symptoms.
