Holt 20 Jeff City 0 Half

I'm watching on YouTube . Either Holt is great ( I know nothing about them) or Jeff City is terrible . Bailey went 0-10 his first year at Lamar and we all know what he did after that . Hopefully he turns them around

I'm with you. But JC isn't blocking on offense and not tackling on defense. Many missed tackles.

Holt is decent at best. I like Coach Bailey and think he is a great coach, but Jeff City is a really hard place to win. Coach Walker got out for a reason, he knew the future didn't look that good.

Jeff City hasn't really felt the full affects of the new high school yet. The senior class is still the full class and the junior class has way more talent than Capital City's junior class. Now next year or maybe the year after that is when they will really start to see the difference. But their schedule is easier this year than it probably has been in the last 50 years, and for obvious reasons.

Split isn’t going to make either place a winner soon. That’s for sure. CC was handled by Warrensburg easily. Coach obviously knows how to win. Isn’t going to be easy. If admin lets him coach that will help. Been some problems along that front. And this has been a rough preparation for any coach. Especially one trying to establish a new system let alone one that has one in place. Back to the field and drawing board.

Holt, who is a bottom feeder STL school, welcoming Coach to big boy football. Wonder how long they’ll keep the “Spin” offense before realizing it should’ve been left in the corn fields.

I watched Bentonville West (ark) get smoked by Broken Arrow (Oklahoma) on ESPN today . I couldn't help but to think that would have never happened when Bentonville had one HS. You split talent ....it has to be done as schools grow etc but I think Jeff City may be in the same boat

I agree it will affect Jeff City, but what I'm saying is that it hasn't really affected them yet. Most of the players that start right now (with the exception of a few) would have started even if Jeff City never split. But Jeff City will also counter balance the split by having an easier schedule. Jeff City just a few short years ago played the Fayetteville, Har-ber, Bentonville type schools, they would win and compete against those teams. They would go to the Bentonville Team camp there for awhile, and hold their own against those schools down there. Heck Jenks High School would be there every year. The thing is they are not going to be playing those schools anymore either. They won't be playing Rockhurst, Desmet, CBC, Kirkwood, or any other really good out of state schools. The easier schedule will hopefully balance out losing some talent once the split is fully in affect.

Their schedule may be easier but their preparation for post season won’t be. For the most part conference play hurts many teams when the playoffs begin. An AD loves it. Less worry about games. But conferences are sometimes ruled by the same teams. Less travel, easier schedule (sometimes) but post season brings challenges. If I had to guess new central missouri conference will end with HC/Rock Bridge game. Just a guess. Beating up new high school in JC and some that are struggling won’t always get you that far.

I don't discount his ability and I think they will get better but sincerely doubt there is as much talent in the pipeline, comparatively speaking, as there was at Lamar.

Question to those who actually watched the game, what sort of offense did he run?

It looked like he was trying to marry the spin offense with the spread offense. They had one QB with two wings (most of the time), one RB, 2 WR split out, and no tight ends. Sometimes one of the wings would move to the slot. They ran some plays that were similar to the plays in the spin offense, but just a little bit different. They ran some regular spread concepts as well. Their O-Line isn't very good and their QB's don't throw very well. They do have some talent at RB, WR and Wing positions.

It will definitely take a affect on Jeff city. Look at what happen to Rock Bridge and Hickman when Battle came along, both teams had years where they had 4 wins or less.

Jeff City plays Hannibal Friday night so it will be a toss up game

Might be Hannibal’s first win over JC. They didn’t look very good. Only advantage JC has is a game under their belt. And no score for Helias to compare to.

If they don't tackle any better than they did Sat. French will have a big night.

Another advantage for Jeff City is Hannibal is still without Hamner. Hannibal has a 46 consecutive losses against Jays coming into Jeff city Friday.

Well Hannibal has a secret weapon on the team that I can't talk about!!!

Just to give you an update- Coach Bailey needs no welcome to "big boy football" he coached at the college level for several years before coaching at Lamar and coaching in several big games against "big boy schools" with the smallest school in one of the best conferences in the state, and doing it all with class and more importantly teaching the kids and community how to win with class.
Are you sure it was the fault of the " spin offense" and nothing to do with blocking and tackling?

Do you mean to say that blocking and tackling is more important than what offensive scheme you use?

You just blew the collective minds of local experts statewide!
Coach Nickerson is a football genius!! He has won at the collegiate AND professional levels. Ampipe didnt turn out well but thats another story for another thread!!

Is that why you threw a little trash on my lawn, but weve moved forward. I actually thought about hiring you as AD at Minnesota State until the suits hired Burleigh.

Coach, I would have been HONORED to have been your AD. Thats one job I would have stepped down as Booster Club President for! But it was Steph who did the trash dumping.

The circle jerk of STL fanboys doesn’t allow for that close of observations. He is definitely salty for those juicy Ls he probably watched live two straight seasons.
