Curious to hear everyone’s opinion on Teams NOT playing games over the break vs the Teams that played in a Holiday tournament or shootout.
Are they at a disadvantage because their kids are missing the competition? Or an advantage with rest before the second half of the season? Or other thoughts on the subject??

Coach Shorter at CJ won't play over break. He says the girls need to be fresh in March. I personally think he just likes Christmas break lol. They have looked bad sometimes in their first game after the break but he wins enough in March he can do what he wants.

I don't think there is a right or wrong way. Personally, I love the holiday tournaments and the ability to play some tough competition.

I do think teams that do not play over Christmas break are at a disadvantage in conditioning for their few couple games back.

@TadQueasy I’ve always thought the same thing as far as conditioning. Unless you have a really good JV, kinda hard to simulate a regular game.
I’m sure some teams will come off break and not miss a beat, while others might need a couple games to kick the dust off. Guess we’ll see come next week!

I think for most teams, it is unnecessary to play over the break. Give your kids time off to be kids and spend time with their families.

I think most players like playing in holiday tournaments. I think it gives family members that don't normally get to watch a chance to watch them play. Most Christmas breaks started December 17. If you don't play during your break that's like 3 weeks without a game.

On the other side of that there are some kids that either do not have much family to spend time with or being with their family is a negative and they need the time with their basketball team.
