The Risco Tigers have a 15-2 record this season. All of Risco's games this season will be against school with a larger enrollment. Risco has only 45 students in high school but appear to compete with class 2 and 3 competition.

Here's a list of schools Risco has played this season.

1. Gideon---------------------76 students----------Risco won 68-44
2. Holcomb-----------------147 students----------Risco won 67-37
3. Cooter--------------------118 students----------Risco won 75-47
4. Clarkton-------------------96 students----------Risco won 73-71
5. Senath-Hornersville--213 students----------Risco won 62-42
6. East Prairie-------------342 students----------Risco won 74-69
7. Bell City----------------- -66 students-----------Risco won 67-44
8. Portageville--------------244 students---------Risco won 61-47

9.. Clarkton--------------------------------------------Risco won 67-64
10. Bernie-------------------149 students-----------Risco won 63-44
11. Delta----------------------79 students-----------Risco won 90-70
12. Holcomb----------------147 students----------Risco won 83-57
13. Twin Rivers------------320 students----------Risco won 64-54
14. Marquand---------------51 students-----------Risco won 84-32
15. Southland---------------82 students-----------Risco won 71-24

Two teams have defeated Risco this season----South Pemiscot ( 208 students 63-61 ) and Oran ( 124 students ) 74-62

Next up Risco--Advance--1-28-17

Class 1 district 1 @ Gideon. The top two teams in district 1 will be Scott County Central ( 107 students ) and Risco. The advantage goes to SCC because MFloyd ( Sikeston ) has coached some of the SCC players before enrolling @ SCC. MFloyd is one of the top lower level coaches in Missouri.

Do we have other schools in Missouri who play their entire schedule against school with a larger enrollment?

A 3-Rivers Junior College this afternoon---1-28-17

Risco 17-3 defeated Advance 17-4------65-59
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Risco is expected to play Scott County Central in the finals of Class 1 district 1.

Advance is a heavy favorite to win class 1 district 2.

Always enjoyable to see those with few making the best of it.
You hear the line "quality not quantity" used frequently at these schools.
In NW Missouri......not taking the time to look up all their opponents like you did (kudos Metro)...Jefferson (49)...Winston (59)...Mercer (72)....seem to all be pretty
competitive....all have been state ranked with a few impressive records or wins....and not just this year.
In my opinion (easy boys)...Jefferson may play the toughest schedule of these 3 schools right now. Central location between Maryville and St Joseph helps a little.

Interesting Note....all 3 of these programs have alumni coaching them from the 1980's.

Bio on Coach Blankenship? veteran or fresh face?

I'll get to see the Advance - Risco game, it is a prelim game played at 3R tomorrow at 2:30. No home court advantage for either team. Should be a great warmup for the Region 16 games between 3R and Moberly's women and men tomorrow evening.

Coach Blankenship is a great person besides being a great coach. My wife knew him before we got married and I'm glad I got to know him. Class guy...

Rocket, Sometimes life is not fair for the good guys. Coach Brandon Blankenship, a former player @ Risco, appears to be doing it the right way and has his team competing @ a high level by beating schools 6 times Risco's enrollment. SEMO has three schools in class 1 who can make noises in districts and beyond this year. ( Advance, Scott County Central and Risco ) I can only imagine what it would mean to coach Blankenship and his team to advance out of district 1 but they must defeat SCC who is loaded with talent this year. SCC has won 18 state champions, Advance 2 and Risco has won none.

Missed the Risco-Advance game but was on hand during the TRCC boys' game to see former Charleston BlueJay Dell Bogan and current Moberly CC Greyhound defeat the TRCC Raiders.

Hey Bird that was a couple of good games between Moberly and 3R. Moberly got the best of our gals this time in OT and our guys had a chance to send it OT but missed the last shot. They came back from 7 to 10 points down a couple of times in the last 2 or 3 minutes but couldn't get over the hump. Didn't help that Reedus, our leading scorer, left with an ankle injury and didn't play in the 2nd half but that's part of the game. Very entertaining day of basketball including the HS school game. The tourney should be interesting for the men and women. 3R is down in the region standings but they haven't been blown out by anyone yet.

3R was 1 more made free throw in regulation from giving MAC their first loss. We get another shot at em in the regular season on their home turf. After their OT win at 3R West Plains took them to double OT. They are very good no doubt, but they are certainly NOT invincible. I hope they are overlooking 3R come tourney time. I have no idea where those players live or who they play for, nor do I really care.

First TRCC game I've been to since Trey Watkins played for the Raiders and was playing against MAC who had Greg Tucker and Aaron Cassell, former BlueJays.

Thanks to the immediate response of Brandon Blankenship's son and all those on hand at a basketball game on Tuesday night at Risco, they saved the life of an official who collapsed due to a heart attack in between the JV and varsity games. The official, Donnie Jenkins, is the father of New Madrid County Central's JV coach and former NMCC player, Dontre Jenkins, and former NMCC player Deon Jenkins.
