Harrisonville 20, Excelsior Springs 0 early 3rd
Grain Valley 28, Kearney 0 late 2nd
PLATTE COUNTY 14, SMITHVILLE 7 HALF

Did a lot of players opt-out at Kearney this year? What is going on?
It is frankly not good. They are completely lost offensively. Fort, their opening win, is proving to be a very below par team as well. NEXT WEEK Benny Palmer brings 5-0 State ranked Tonka to KTown.................

Grain Valley appears to be for real. First year moving up to the bigger conference as well.
It took Allie a bit BUT YES they are for real. Be not deceived tonight, though. Kearney is headed for a losing season in all likelihood. The offense is simply a mess.

Pirates looked VERY good tonight. Mitchell in the lineup really helps..............

Kearney was pretty highly touted going into this season (#14 in the 810Varsity KC metro top 25).

I would mention it's the lack of hot Kearney moms this season but I'm tired of beating that dead horse. So I won't mention them.

Crap! I just did
It is actually along the lines of what I had pegged preseason.
Based on name recognition alone, they are not good.
Yeah I am wondering when that will wear off especially given they cannot come close to either Smithville (in a down year) or Platte County. Heck I'd give Excelsior a straight up shot at them these days...............

Benny could pummel them next week, he has some talent this year and coaches them well.

Whoa! Careful there. Saying the word "pegged" can summon the Mox!

It was really singular...pregames just aren't the same. As much as the story gets made light of, it was really a shitty situation for the kid.

Tonka's most likely a L (in spite of someone's 42 point prediction); Ray South will be a W - Grandview is the toss-up game....

Kearney beats Tonka by 10. Tonka has played a schedule of opponents that have won 2 games totalthis year.

I follow KS and know DeSoto has a very solid team this year so that is another likely L. Pre-season I had them hovering around .500 (4-5). I do think they will beat Grandview. Tonka, in all fairness, really hasn't played anyone yet so they are still a mystery in my book.

They gave up a lot of big plays to Raytown South (my only Tonka live exposure so far). This is very similar to last year but later in the season. Total coin flip in my opinion

I watched Tonka play Chrisman and saw some of the highlights of others. They are all offense, reminds me of Texas Tech and Air Raid. Fun to watch, but yeah they haven't played anyone.

What is the hot mom story? I see it pop up a great deal on here
Some time last year (2019), there was a thread about Kearney football and how it was trending downhill. A poster, whose name escapes me, made a post about how the head coach was less concerned about football because he was distracted by the hot Kearney moms. I believe there was another post shortly after that, about there being a hot Kearney mom that was also a photographer, but I might be wrong.

The original post got deleted but I remember quoting the post in my reply, so its probably buried on the thread some where in the depths of MoSports.

Since then, the hot Kearney moms of have risen to near Melvin Burkes levels of infamy. Being the butt of several jokes, source of many GIFs, and a few pictures of some rather attractive women.

Win or loss next Friday, Winnetonka definitely seems to be on the upswing. They’re building a solid foundation and, like Oak Park, is breaking ground on their own on-campus stadium complex.

It was long overdue in the NKC School District. Staley was the only place with nice facilities. I saw NKC's new weight two years ago. It was like a college weight room. They had all the NKC logos on all the weights. The gym was very nice as well, although I preferred the old Hoosiers style gym they had before. I think that has really helped change the culture in the rest of the district high schools. Independence did the same thing with Van Horn, Chrisman and Truman. I think it has really helped Van Horn in recent years to feel that sense of pride.

Agreed, and it happened in Liberty as well with Liberty and Liberty North getting their own stadiums a few years ago; part of it was due to the impending third district high school. I wonder how Park Hill will approach it if/when they build a third district high school, whether they would build new stadiums at Park Hill South and “Park Hill East” or if they’d all share the current stadium at Park Hill High School.

Exciting times in the Northland...
