Natural gas pipeline busted up in Pike county MO a couple weeks ago. Evacuated over 50 people. It was only about 7 years old.

Luckily this one was out in the country. You can bet some where down the road that same line runs right through a town or even a city. They are necessary evil if we wanna get the stuff around the country to where it needs to go for our convenience.

All reliable sources of energy currently have major drawbacks. Oil/gas pollution, coal pollution and increasingly uneconomical, and nuclear has huge capital costs. You guys can complain about the accidents that do happen, but I think that's just an unfortunate drawback to the power consumption we have in this country.
