Not sure if this is confirmed yet, but hearing the Helias vs. Father Tolton game will be played at Columbia College due to space limitation at their home gym. These games over the past couple of years have been really close and entertaining. Both teams are loaded again this year. Michael Porter will be tough to stop, but Helias has a few weapons of their own. Get your ticket early for this one! Sold out at Helias last year and gym was packed when they played at Jefferson City High for the Great 8. They split last year for these 2 games.

I hope they bring that crowd with them when they come to Ste. Genevieve to play Valle. It would be great for the fans at Ste. Gen. to see fan support from out of town. We get great support for out of town games in football. Just wish we could get the same support during basketball. I know, I know. Ste. Gen. is a football town. A person can always dream.

My guess is, if Valle had a player of Porter's caliber...they'd fill every gym they played in.

There's never been a player at Valle like Porter, and I doubt there ever will be.
I feel like I'm talking to Metro. Just about every school in MO can say the same thing. Point was, Tolton is probably filling every gym they go to (including their own) because they've got one of the best players in the country on their team. That's all.

I agree with you 100%. I just wish basketball was a relevant sport in Ste. Gen. If your at the public school it's 4th behind Football, Wrestling, Baseball. If your at Valle it's 4th behind Football, Baseball, Girls Volleyball.

Valle knows FOOTBALL though! :)

That was said last year when Helias beat Tolton at the Great 8 and I can spell it correctly!
Helias was a lot better then than they are now... You and Falconman must be buddies for you to take up for him. Besides, Helias better focus more on Rolla than TOLTON!!!!!

You will see a much different Helias team this year. Most who watched them this summer have said this is much improved TEAM!

Emphasis on TEAM? They had individuals last year? The same individuals that took them to the Final 4 the year before so what is the difference? I think that is a selfish statement to say they were not a team last year! Those kids all grew up playing together..

I saw Helias, Tolton, and Rolla play last year. And you're right Hangman, Rolla is going to be tough to beat. Not sure I believe in the whole "They were individuals last year and now they are more of a team" , because their TEAM defense vs. Tolton in the Great 8 was as good as I saw anyone play all year. They were never late on a closeout, always seemed to be in right spots in their rotations, and rebounded really well (w/o the Hentges kid who was in Florida for UA game). Kudos to Coach Buffington for having those kids prepared.

With all that being said, I saw Rolla play this summer, if anybody other than them gets out of that district I will be shocked.

I think Helias will surprise folks. They were 8-0 without Hentges last year and if they can peak at the right time should be interesting.

I think they will, but it will be very hard to replace the 2 really good guards they lost in Sykes and Caywood. Both playing in college now at the D-2 and D-3 level. Their young guards will have to mature quickly for success.
