Hearing weather could cause issues Friday in KC area

Wow Kearney cannot afford it, I didn't know those surrounding districts were that bad off, So I guess SWMO is not as bad as some have tried to describe on here....
It isn't always a matter of being able to afford it, I guess. I am not certain Kearney has the space for 2 separate fields. Also, when you are stewards of someone else's $$$, decisions have to be made carefully.

My question is before turf what did these towns do? they had to have two places to place didn't they you would not play soccer on the football grass field? And you just mentioned good stewards of other peoples money, So those places should still be around unless they tore them down and that would seem like a waste of money?

They can afford it. I think it is a question of nearby space. The soccer field would have to be a ways away from the HS.

My question is are people getting so soft they can’t stand to have some rain during a football game???

Unfrigginbelievable

I know the first year I moved back to the ole hometown was an eye opener when I got my property tax bill..................double what I paid living in Johnson County KS kid you not. Why there is no way I can imagine the school district not being able to afford a soccer field.

I do not know if there were ever 2 fields to begin with, can't answer that one.

Like our stadium upgrade projects such as the turf was just donated to the school by individual donors no tax increase or bond issue was needed we just donated over million to get it done. But Monett has several people in this community that are very well off, they just pony up the cash. Our AD and school board was smart enough to realize that we still might need separate facilities and kept the soccer field for just such occasions like what these schools are having to do, move football games.

Rain isn't an issue, it's the lightning. Every strike within a certain range results in a 15-30 minute automatic delay.
As of this morning the forecast for heavy t-storms Friday afternoon/evening is on target. The other factor is I know many are not pleased with the prospect of playing on Saturday.

What did they do before they had turf? We still have our old soccer field and they split games when needed. and we are in what has been describe as poor SWMO....so you telling me that KC districts cannot afford that?

Liberty...they play soccer games on the football field. But there is also a district soccer-only stadium by the community center they can always use. Both Liberty and Liberty North have multiple large areas (size of two to three football fields in size) of maintained natural grass practice fields. Same at Kearney. Kearney also has their old high school grass stadium that is still maintained. Staley has all kinds of fields, facitlites and crap there (it is one of the district locations along with North KC.) They even have an extra track there. The Park Hill district uses Park Hill's stadium for Park Hill and Park Hill South games. All these places have and spend plenty-o-money on all these facilities.

What is stupid, is keeping them locked up--which is exactly what Liberty did when they finished their stadiums. Locked up. As the public for funds, and them the dipwads shut it down and don't let the public use the facilities, as if it is owned by the football coach???? WTF?

Bolivar and Center HS (Kansas City) moved to 2pm Friday. Another great reminder on the knock up job the AD is doing with this unnecessary lengthy road trip.

Is Bolivar going to let school out to attend this tomorrow? Goodness........

But don't they have a secondary field? Monett soccer uses the football field, but we also have the original grass soccer field that they can go play on if a football game needs to be played at the football field.

Well they have soccer fields they use to practice on, but I'm not aware of them ever playing a game there. Could be wrong though. I do know they would like to have a soccer specific facility, maybe in a due time they will.

At Maryville they play both soccer and football on real grass at stadium. It has the same type of sand subbase that Arrowhead and Childern Mercy Park (Sporting KC) has.

It's a nice field (see video below) But as a taxpayer I think it was stupid to spend more on real grass then a turf field would of cost let alone additional maintenance/watering.

Props to the Kearney admin for bumping gametime up to 5:30...almost made it to half before lightning. Grandview's giving Grey's boys a game of it 7-0.
