Hats off to Valle Catholic for playing up and just being a class act for the last two years

As a parent with a senior who equally started for Lamar as a Junior, I just want to make sure Valle is recognized for having the heart, will and balls to allow us the honor to play them for the last two years. I put a lot of stock in my sons judgement of character and he stated that for another year this team came in, played their hearts out, and left nothing on the field, all the while doing it with class. Those who know me, certainly know I am not one to praise someone unless it is earned and I just want to make sure that Valle realizes this was not a waste of two years and this Lamar fan and, from those I know, all Lamar fans respect them for the great team the are, and wish them nothing but the best in their pursuit of another state championship this year.

I think Lamar has reached a point in their program where they should take on a nonconfrence team that is a good measuring stick for them as far as playing a quality team a class or two ahead of them much like Webb used to do with Rockhurst , Rock bridge, Har Ber , Hickman etc...given the shake up in the big 8 ...im not sure thats even a possibility now but id pay good money to watch them play helias or maryville or someone of the sort because I think they would be pushed and possibly win

The last 2 years we had two open dates. We tried to schedule other teams in both Kansas and Missouri. Valle Catholic had an open date on one of the byes. With the playoff point system it doesn't help larger school to play down.

I totally understand and Valle is certainly a quality opponent . That being said , anyone who follows Lamar knew they would beat them easily . I think it would be neat for Lamar to have the " unknown " factor. Not knowing if you're able to handle an opponent is a cool and exciting feeling for anymore ...Lamar is lucky if they get that once every other year. Trinity may provide that tho

With the Missouri district setup ...bigger schools probably won't play down . A pittsburg or even pittsburg colgan vs Lamar game at Pitt state would be cool!! Pitt has tons of wiggle room in their schedule and PSU is Lamar's desired playing field anyways ! Lol

Lamar beat the Class 3 champs last year, and Carl Junction the year before...

They should cross-schedule out of conference with any COC schools that will let them; CJ, Carthage, Joplin, Neosho, and Webb are all close (and a couple of those schools are perennial contenders...)

COC schools have a full schedule with conference games starting next year.

They would be a top 4 team in the COC most years

It doesn't hurt a larger school to play down. The smaller school gets a bump but the larger school does not get penalized in the point system.

Lamar’s second title was against Blair Oaks; one of their closer title games, 69-41.

From what I read on here, it appears this Lamar team is down slightly from years past, no? They didn't have their starting QB either. This coming from a team that didn't make the final last year and the two finalists are right there again. I'd say @millerbleach they are lucky to have only fell two spots.

PS: Yes, I think the fake football should stay out of the REAL football threads. You keep saying "if you don't like it don't read it". How do you do that when it is in every thread? If you were getting more than conversation between the "doc guys" in the fake football threads, you wouldn't have to hijack every other thread. It's pretty simple, if Valle would have been competitive at all against Lamar.... they probably wouldn't have dropped as much in the rankings.
But losing by 48 points will do that to you. Regardless of who it was against.

Where did I say either one would 'hang' with Lamar? I said they would fare better, meaning they wouldn't lose by 48.
