Has any house speaker gone on to be president?

Ryan wants to be president some day. Given the way most Americans have viewed recent Speakers I don't think that would be a good move for Pauly.

James Polk was the only one. I don't think it's a good idea for Ryan. It would create many more issues for him. I think they should bring in Carson, Fiorina, or Trump and let them learn what it is really like.
I read where one of the Reps suggested he would put up Carson. I think it was Gowdy, but not sure now.

A lot of commentators think Ryan would rather run ways and means for a couple decades than be the Speaker for 3 years.
