Aminu Mohammed from Greenwood in Springfield posted a 3 day total 100 points, 4th all time in tourney history, he also owned the glass with a new tourney record 52 total rebounds in his three games and also set the single game record Saturday night grabbing 23 against Christ King of New York. Just a junior.

pure swing and others, do you know anything about South Iron who are one of two favorites to win class one in March? South Iron defeated Greenwood a few days ago and Hayti, Mo by 56 points this past weekend. Does anyone know who are the top players @ South Iron?

South Iron and Dora will meet in the class one sectional in playoffs.

Thanks in advance.

Dinkins and Wakefield. Dinkins had 35 and Wakefield 20 against Greenwood. If that dude had so many points and rebounds in the TofC I don't know how SI even stayed close, they have NO size.

Greenwood had played the night before got off the bus at midnight and I was told anyone could have beat them by 20 the night south iron played them was told by a person who was there they didn’t guard worth a hoot

Very poor excuse, everybody has some of those nights. If they can't get up for a game with a state ranked opponent they ain't very mentally tough.

I don’t much care for greenwood so I don’t make excuses for them.....and honestly the Mohammed kid is good but you shutdown his supporting cast he can get 40 a night and they would lose if every team put up 41 as a team

South Iron had to travel all the way to Springfield so I don’t buy the late night excuse. South iron is very good

I think Greenwood started 3 freshman and another junior. They were matched up against 3 of the best high school teams in the country. Mohammed put up those numbers being double teamed and triple teamed. You would think they could have held him down but they couldn't. He was the best player on the floor, it didn't matter if his team won or lost.

Who takes the blame for Greenwood's defensive effort? South Iron is presently 17-0 and a possible class 1 state champion if the can defeat a good Dora team. Rumor has Greenwood as a lower level defensive team but a very good offensive team. The excuse of getting in late from the game before is not used by basketball warriors. Greenwood will get competition from Hartville and others for a class 2 state Championship. If Greenwood doesn't get a better defensive effort, defending their class 2 state championship could be in doubt.

Facts show South Iron came to play and was the better team against class 2 Greenwood.

I'm haven't heard but they only have 2 seniors and they are not the two top scorers against Greenwood. Dinkins is a sophomore and Wakefield a junior. I don't know where the two seniors are in scoring for the season.

We played South Iron back in Dec. Very good team, solid defense, great coach, just a very solid team. It will take a very good team to beat them.

Greenwood almost lost to hartville last year after Mohammed foul out.....hartville is better this year than last and returned all 5 starters

I would agree that Hartville is the best team in Class 2 that I have watched, but Mohammed is also much better this year than he was last year. As long as he is on the floor, teams in Class 2 will struggle to stop him and he has some solid teammates that can shoot. The fact that he basically beat Kickapoo by himself was quite impressive.

Yet he couldn't beat class 1 South Iron on his home floor.

Will struggle doesn't mean can't find ways to beat them. Many times over the last several years the Class 1 Champion probably was better than the Class 2 Champion. Still a team sport, still requires 5 guys doing their thing. He just impacts games more so than most team's best players do in the state. Hartville for example does everything team wise to beat you, Greenwood relies on Mohammed like a crutch in big games.
