Great play for North Carolina in an 81-77 win over Duke. Caleb (soph) led all scorers with 28 points plus 4 rebounds & 1 assist. He played HS ball at Christian Brothers. I like to see Missouri players do go on a national stage.

Two of the biggest nights were by players who played their high school basketball in the state of Missouri.

Yes, wouldn't it be sweet for Mizzou to be able to entice some of our better players to stay home?
3 players from Missouri starting for one of the four final four teams. As already mentioned two had big nights.
If all three played for Mizzou then maybe just maybe we would not suck.

I feel like U of Missouri has an opening and waits for applicants. If I had ANYTHIG to do with it I would go to Sean Miller, former HC at Arizona, and I would ask, "what do we need to do to get you here in CoMo?"
THEN I would get him what he requested, in 3 years we would be top 20. But nope, we will hire some ---and unless he gets very lucky, in three years he will get the boot, and Zoo will wait for applicants again.

In the first 3 years at Duke, Krzyzewski was 38-47. He came from Army, not a basketball powerhouse. It's a good thing you didn't have anything to do with that hire.

Rick Pitino would've been a fun one to see. Probably not a smart move, but would have been entertaining at least.

Yes sir. And how many times does a University get a hit like that? Mizzou is
1/2 out of 6 since Stormin Norman.

NIL definitely changes the landscape of NCAA coaches, but Miller is probably going to be untouchable for a little while longer. I don't think he has done the obligatory contrition tour.
Probably spends a few years with Pop or Kerr, then gets a job.

why not a smart move?
1. He is 69.
2. He was basically a part-time coach at Louisville which is why everything fell apart, he wasn't as involved as he should have been. I don't know what he has been like at Iona.
3. People are going to have to be worried about what they might walk in on at some of their favorite restaurants in COMO.

Paige Laurie needs to contribute to the NIL fund to even come close to getting any real talent from Missouri.

Stop it with that BS drivel. It ain’t 70s. You can turn a program around in about 10 mins in 2022 if you’re worth a darn. That comment is tired and lazy.

You do realize he’s the new HC at Xavier, right?

No, I didn't. Xavier isn't MU and Xavier is going back to where it started, and a second chance at home. I am not sure anyone else would have given him that chance.

And it didn't take Krzyzewski 72 hours before the conversation about coming back started.

define "worth a darn"
Top half of the SEC. In the tournament. Competitive. Anybody that isn't a lazy POS and stealing money while "making men" basically. Concentrate on the things relevant in major D1 college hoops. Winning and money. This crap of having to wait to rebuild is silly. Transfer portal makes it the wild west.

What do you mean by Xavier isn't MU? Home is Pittsburgh. He's from there and played there. He was an asst at Xavier and then HC there. Spent a total of 8 or 9 years there, shorter than he was at Arizona. That said, I think I get what you're saying, but I don't think he was untouchable. Hell, Auburn hired Pearl. Houston hired Sampson. There are examples of it all over. I'm honestly not sure Sean Miller is a savior though. His floor is probably considerably higher than who MU hired though, especially in the short term. With the portal and the way things are, places like MU have the ability to turn it around really quickly. Look at Iowa St. 2 wins is wayyyyyyy worse than where the Tigers are. Granted, the rosters were about as equally in shambles. I'd say in about two months or so, MU fans will know if Gates can get it done or not. They had the option of getting their hands dirty a bit with a Miller/Marshall/Pitino hire and they chose a different direction. We'll see how it plays out.

Not so great game in the championship! Dujuan Harris must be in his head! 0-2 in the championship games against him. But hey, all the best players are from St. Louis. LOL.

Mizzou also had one of the two Braun’s, briefly, who have significant ties to the school.

Having both of them would have been nice.

Xavier arguable isn't even the top university in its own city, at least from a prestige perspective, and it's not a power 5. Honestly, I still think of it as an A-10 high mid-major which I know it is in the new big east but... Iona same way for Pitino. They are not major programs at power 5 conferences. They had to step down a little to try to rebuild their image. Pitino even had to go out of the country. Xavier is where Miller made his name. He had some success and the people there are thinking about that when they bring him back.
You actually made my point for me. Pearl had to do TV work until his show cause was up and he had some time to let the dust settle, at Tennessee, same with Sampson, he was in the NBA until his show cause got lifted, and the dust settled.

Power 5 is a football term. Power 6 is hoops and includes the Big East. They're not a mid-major, at least in terms of college hoops. But I get the point. My point on Pearl and Sampson was once they were able to be hired, they were. I don't think the conference or NCAA would've allowed Xavier to hire Miller had there been enough for a show cause. And Pitino has paid his dues. They were there for the taking, but MU elected not to go that route (or those coaches elected it for MU, which is probably more likely). I honestly couldn't see either doing it. I'm just not sure MU is as coveted a spot nationally as Tigers fans would like to think. The last time they hired someone they really needed to compete with other (big) schools for was Quinn, and that's been some time ago.

They had an opportunity to go after Calipari and Majerus at different times and chose not to.
I think last night showed how few teeth the NCAA has anymore.

It's been that way for a long, long time. Their history of wussing out hiring coaches is incredible. It's a direct reflection of the spiral of the program. I love how everyone talks about how Norm out-coached folks or his teams worked harder or whatever. His best teams were when Dr Detroit was doing his thing with Bob Sunvold. The morality clause with their hirings is sophomoric.

Dr. Detroit. ;)
My uncle was athletic director at Pensacola Junior College from 1978 to 2000.
He came after Daly was head coach there. He left the place in such a mess with the NJCAA that they cleaned house, and that is how my uncle got the job.
Imagine how bad it would have to be for the NJCAA to come down on in you the 70's...
It was the wild west back then.

And he came to MU and brought in guys that lead to arguably the greatest stretch in their hoops history. You can’t win and sit in the front pew every Sunday. Unless you’re fake as hell, like Coach K…There’s a reason guys like Doug Smith came to Columbia. It sure as hell wasn’t the weather or nightlife.

BTW have you heard the talk that Coach K might come back because they lost the assistant who recruited this incoming class.

I mean...every ding dong with a keyboard or smartphone can start a rumor. I know some are running with it because JWill said something, but that dude is just pumping daily content for the bosses at ESPN. He's a joke. They did already hire Nolan Smith's replacement too. HC at Elon that recruited Scheyer I think. K is done. I think.

Who was 'faker'?

Coach K or Roy boy? Keeeyuds.
