I think racist is the easy go to in an uneasy conversation. I don't parrot radio personalities much but Dave Glover on racism is SPOT on. It would be insulting to me to be treated like we(whites) treat black people, and I am not talking about the racist(the small %). We are not helping get America on a level playing field by patting minorities on the head and asking if they're alright and is there anything we can do for you. They're not children, which is exactly how white guilty apologist act.

This argument would have value if the other party actually pushed for changes that would help black America. It doesn't. It serves the interest of rich people and corporations. It serves the interests of Southern obstructionists who used to form the backbone of the D party pre-1964.

The Rs of the last 20-25 years do not support policies which are focused on the poor or the middle class, whether you are white, black, or whatever. I may disagree with an awful lot of what the Ds want but I think they are focused on the real problems in America.

This is a big part of why Trump is doing so well - the whole point of his campaign is to speak to middle America who feels Ds care more about poor people and elite Rs care only about rich people.

What more do we need to do other than provide welfare and public education? You keep saying that Democrats are these super hero's to the rescue, what more is there? Not making them have an idea to vote because of some made up BS disenfranchise? Come on man. You're not dumb.

1. It's not "made up" that states are actively making it harder for poor people, who are disproportionately black, to vote. Gee, I wonder why someone wouldn't vote for a party or politicians that pretended otherwise.

You have your head in the sand on this...the Rs even admit it. You look like a naive person when you claim otherwise. The voter laws are all about keeping Ds from the polls.

2. I'm not pretending Dems are superheroes. It's that the alternative is worse if you are sitting in lower class America. Look at how nuts the Rs went when the Ds and Fed pushed for stimulus in the depths of the worst demand-driven recession since the 1930's. The economic policies of the Rs are really silly and they would hurt the poor more than those of the Ds. Look at the establishment R push for entitlement cuts that would really hurt the average America. The economic policy goals of the R party are totally misaligned with the interests of lower class and middle class Americans.

It's more than the vote, too, the R party has ridden dog whistle rhetoric for a long, long time in many cases to ensure their lock on the Southern white vote. The term "states rights" basically exists so Rs could go tell Southern whites they wouldn't force them to integrate too much.

It has certainly dialed back from where it was 30 years ago, but it's still there. Clinton was pretty good at it, too, back in his day - the absolute master at having separate appeals to black and to blue collar white Southerners.

It is fair to say that white non-evangelicals making $30-70k are generally underrepresented and underserved by the parties. You can point to a few other groups like this, but they aren't as large in population as this group.

A big part of why they aren't served is their views are all over the place politically.

I know a lot of Democrats, most of the black jokes I have heard in my life, were told by them.

What does this tell me?

The KKK doesn't like black people, and admit it, that's what they stand for.

Dems don't like black people, but hide it, as long as they can convince them they are trying to help them so they keep voting Dem.

But that is just some more anecdotal evidence.

I'm pretty sure I have told a Pollock joke in my time but I don't dislike Polish people. heck I don't even know if know any Polish people or not. I'm also pretty sure I've told jokes with preachers in them too but I don't dislike most preachers either.

Call what you want. I know of no openly racist Republicans. I know of no one who is racist that isn't openly so.
