Could someone please try and explain the current mshsaa formula for game location selection...!~?

I understand some schools with tight Covid attendance restrictions are chosen to host while the opponent has
unrestricted attendance limits. Does this make since..?

Play the games where the most fans can assemble safely and support their teams..!

Thanks, C =|~

The primary factor is number of postseason games that each school has hosted. If that number is tied then the school on top of the bracket (so the winners from odd-numbered districts) get the chance to host. Not sure if Covid really plays a role unless one team cannot host due to restrictions.

If you are asking about Kearney/Mexico, according to the MSHSAA website, Mexico hosted both of their two district games and Kearney hosted one and played one on the road. Therefore they get the sectional hosting opportunity because Mexico has had more playoff home games.

....Us see........ One gym is limited to 4 tickets per player due to covid and the other is in code green with 2500 seats available.... Us not let common cents get in the way..........Geeeez 🥴

At least the kids are playing at this time.

Team A played at home in district semi finals, at a neutral court for district finals and hosts sectional. 2 hosted games.

Ream B played at home in district semi-final and finals and on road at Team C for sectional. 2 games hosted

Team C played at home in district semi-finals, on the road district finals and hosted sectional. 2 games hosted.

Team A (if wins) plays either team B or C.

Team A should have home court for quarter-final game because all have hosted 2 times and Team A is on top of the bracket correct?

I can definitely understand the frustration. It really is a no win situation for MSHSAA. They put these rules/criteria in place months ago and if they suddenly changed them, others would be getting upset. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that a lot of areas are just now easing up on restrictions. So even a few weeks back, Mexico was similar to Kearney I believe.

Not knowing anything about the specifics of the Kearney situation, if I was a decision-maker there, I would probably have tried to move it to a neutral site to the east where more people could attend. Perhaps they did try that and it just wasn't possible.

I think it would be Team A. I know the Basketball Manual on the MSHSAA website has some information. I also remember reading a Post-Dispatch article a few weeks ago that summarized it pretty well, but I can't seem to find it unfortunately.

Zumwalt North travels to Pattonville where they are allowing 75 spectators and players are wearing mask. Cross the bridge 5 miles away and spectator limit quadruples and no mask are required to play. The inconsistencies are certainly odd

Do you know what page? Did not see it

You are correct. To simplify it, it comes down to who has hosted the least amount of playoffs games. If you are still the host at a neutral site, it still counts as hosting a game for your school. The tiebreaker is the team located on the top portion of the bracket.

So a neutral court was chosen for the final before the seeding. You are top seed. Does that automatically mean you host at the neutral site? The host school (neutral) did all the scores table and tickets etc.

Ohhh, great question. That I am not sure of. I would think that would not count as the top seed hosting but MSHSAA seems to think differently than I do on most things. Each coach was given an outline of sectional and quarterfinal pairings and they should know who is hosting each round based off the matchup.

We hosted our sectional and quarterfinal games but had each game at a different location each time because our court is too small. The staffs at those locations ran the scorer's table, but we ran the ticket check at the door. One school provided concessions, one did not.

Team B would host Team A or Team C since both teams have hosted the same number and Team B is on the road for Sectionals. Team A would host Team C since both have hosted the same number and both hosted the sectional. Team C is on the road either way.

Try explaining much about the last 12 months in this great nation. Not a lot of cents making.

Thought Van Horn was in KC? I know it's ISD, but thought it was in unincorporated KC. Odd area out there.
It is an odd area out there. I looked before I made the comment to make sure but it does have an Independence address. It is also weird since it used to be in a different school district.

It is in Independence on the far west side, but for a long time part of the KC school district. Many, many years ago there was a gap in attendance areas from them and Chrisman - the business district between them -and Van Horn took in part of KC for their district.
