Gallatin benefits by being in a smaller district

I think that regardless of the seeding or the playoff system in general…. Half of us will find a way to complain about it either way.

there’s no perfect system out there, and even suggesting that another system would be “better” is very hard to prove or disprove. Every system is going to have its flaws.

not jabbing at anyone else’s posts or arguing about it either way, just stating my opinion.

When districts were 2 year cycles the hosting criteria made some sense. Now that they change every year, top/bottom half has little meaning. Unbalanced classes (plural) also contributes to this. Having Class 5 as the catch-all had several benefits, including balanced playoff brackets unless schools dropped out over the summer.

Have said it over the years, all teams advancing through the tournament should have to face a road test or two along the way. Fans should have at least one opportunity to see their team at home on a deep playoff run. This is why I don't like any reseeding proposals. What would the criteria be? You are talking about teams from different regions. There's no way to compare fairly.

Get back to balanced classes and go back to two year cycles imo.
Could not agree more about not having class 1 be catch all. The enrollment gap increases every year a school drops to 8 man. Class 2 seems to have a similar thing happening, where the disperity in school size is widening.

Honest question: does the championship points for private schools have a negative impact on smaller school football in Missouri?

Class 6 DeSmet played a National schedule this year and, predictably, struggled in those and wound up the 5 seed in a district they just won relatively easily. The cream virtually always rises to the top. There is NO magic formula beyond going back real old school 4 team districts winner advances to round of 16.
Why did they get away from that format?

If Lincoln was healthy, I might favor them. But they’ve got two of their 2-way starters out.
i think they were out this last week against Cole Camp as well.
Interesting take, not saying you are wrong though. I know nothing about Lincoln. Have you seen both MC and Lincoln play?

Lincoln now has 1 2 way starter that’s questionable. Word on the street is he
play this week.

i understand why most will pick Monroe. Same thing happened in ‘16-17 when Lincoln went up there for a final 4 game (everyone picked MC). A one possession game where Lincoln had two cracks at it in the final minutes. Different teams, different time.

i think folks will underestimate Lincoln. I know those kids are up for the challenge. 11 seniors on the Lincoln squad.

Great game. Lincolns QB was a stud!!

I could see Holt asking his buddies at Princeton to drop out so he could get home field advantage in the qtrs
As far as conspiracy theories go, this one not only sucks, but swallows. Two reasons:
1. Chris left Princeton after the 2005-06 school year (2005 FB season). Outside of me and maybe a handful of other folks, at most, he's out of sight, out of mind.
2. I'm no math major (though I did keep FB stats here for 38 seasons), but I do not know how you can play an 11-man FB game with only 10 available players. Veer, you want to help me here?

I’ve seen Lincoln play once this season and I also caught the MC/Centralia game from earlier this year, though it was a stream and not live.

By no means am I an “expert” on either team.

I just feel like Lincoln was overlooked by a lot of people this year and anytime they were doubted, they showed up.

I could be dead wrong, maybe MC has their way with Lincoln but I don’t see the cardinals laying down either way

Lincoln had 11 seniors on their team? Probably going back to JV for a couple of years…

@kaching don't count on it. 11 seniors, yes. This year's team, and the team that went to back to back title games continued on a tradition set by the squad that appeared in the semifinal in 2016. This coaching regime has high expectations of the program going forward. A program that's won 5 district championships in 7 years. Next year Lincoln will be down, but they have a sophomore that played linebacker and put together 10 sacks with 80+ tackles that played a lot on offense due to injuries, a freshman that started 10 games at safety and was obviously a varsity level kid all year long, that will also play QB next season, with 4 more freshman that played a ton throughout the season in meaningful minutes, not garbage time on the offensive and defensive lines. The freshman class has as many numbers as the Senior class and the junior high program has some bright spots. Next year they will take their lumps and look to improve. Look for Lincoln to be back into contention for the West Central Conference and beyond for years to come after that.

@NEMOFball it will be a good game. Of any team I observed this season, MC is the only one that will be able to match Adrian's physicality on the line of scrimmage. Both teams are bigger and more violent in the trenches than Lincoln. Adrian did not have the luxury of playing Lincoln in 20mph wind. As you can tell, I'm a little salty. I'm saddened that this weeks semifinal won't be played between two West Central Conference teams. I really believed Lincoln would beat MC, but MC was the better team on Saturday and that's all there is to it. That won't stop me from having nightmares about it for the next couple months...

Onto MC vs Adrian. #24 from MC is a stud and I'd say he'll be the best football player on the field, by a narrow margin over #22 from Adrian (I believe each of these two players are the best players for their teams on both sides of the ball). I also believe each of these kids are obviously all state football players. I think overall, Adrian has more *talent*. Don't mistake that to mean MC is not talented. They have a very physical and athletic front. With a lot of guys that are willing to tackle. They are buttoned up and have a lot of confidence in their defense.

I expect few passes to be thrown. I expect physicality to win out. I expect a low scoring total. Each team has shown that they'll put the ball on the ground, whoever does that less will probably come away with this one. My understanding is that the game will be played in Adrian? That is a huge advantage for the Blackhawks. If I were forced to pick a winner, my gut says Adrian. MC lost their best RB to injury against Lincoln (I've heard possible ACL tear). I also just think Adrian has a slight edge in the physicality department. Should be a fun game. Hoping I can be there in person to watch.

Thanks for the analysis. Sounds like it will be a good football game to watch.
