I attended the SLUH-Vashon game last Friday evening. The Woverines won 56-43 and was dominate. Vashon is very hard to play against because of Tony Irons and his aggressive multi-defensive play. The Woverines employ m-m, and two or more zone looks full court. Their half court defenses was an agressive m-m and two types of zone. ( 1-3-1 and a 1-2-2 ) It appeared to me it would be difficult for the offensive team to get in a comfort position because of multi-defensive changes both full and half court.

Four offensive players appear to be the dominating force and will score most of the Woverines points.

1.Daniel Farris 6'0" Senior guard is the man to deal with if you are to defeat Vashon 18-2. Daniel is a one man wrecking crew with all the tools.

2. Mario McKinney 6'2" Sophomore-- Appears to be a very dangerous player, can shoot outside , pass inside, drive and hit the pull up jumper.

3. Levi Stockard 6'8", 250 Lbs. Senior--Levi plays on the low post and can score big @ his position. Levi must be pushed out of his comfort zone to defeat Vashon. Levi has improved big time since last season.

4. Joseph Reece 6'8" Junior with a basketball build. Joesph can play on the inside or the outside both on offense and defense. Joseph thinks he can score from the outside but needs to be tested. He can drive, pass off to Levi and flush on lay ins.

5. Tony Irons has more players @ his disposable but the big four listed above is enough to worry any coach who thinks they can " Get in the Ring " with the Vashon Woverines.

Vashon will warm up with Soldan 14-6 on Tuesday evening but the biggest test of the year ( Among Missouri teams ) for the Woverines will come on Thursday evening when Webster Groves 18-2 and a 12 game winning streak invades the # 1 class 4 school in Missouri and a heavy favorite to defend their 2016 state championship.

Webster should be favored against Vashon but not by much. Webster has Carte'are Gordon 6'9", 250 Lbs. who may be the only player in Missouri can move Levi Stockard off the low post. Webster also has Courtney Ramey 6'4" all propose guard who can deal with Daniel Farris if Daniel does not foul him out of the game.

Joesph Reece 6'8" may be a problem for the Statesmen unless Courtney Ramey gets the assignment and Isaiah Ford ( Tough guy ) is assigned to the blue collar point guard, Daniel Farris. I'm guessing Cam Potts 6'2", Senior will be dealing with the Mario McKinney 6'2: Sophomore.

Metro...I appreciate your thoughts on Vashon. They are certainly an impressive team. However, the Dogs will focus on th tsk at hand before being concerned with Vashon. First things first.... Cape will be a formidable opponent in district.

Rocket, Train and others, I hope to see the Sikeston @ Miller Career (16-6 ) game next Friday. ( 2-17-17 ) Career is located only a few blocks from Vashon ( Near the Fox theater ). Vashon defeated Career 74-58 on 12-16-16. The latest on Career is ( Improvement since the season started. ) Look out for Javonte Perkins--20.3 PPG.

Cape Central appears to have made major progress during the season and now appears to be threatening Sikeston for a class 4 district 1 championship. Sikeston has the " Fred Factor " and an easy game in the semi-finals. Cape must defeat Norte Dame in the semi-finals and then Sikeston, I see this as a very tall order, Like it want happen.

Tony Irons and the Vashon Wolverines players will be @ the Sikeston-Career game since they have no game scheduled.

Metro....I think the Dogs will win district also, but it won't be easy. Cape has really improved and they provide some matchup problems. However, I think the Dogs provide match up problems for them as well,

I will be at the Miller Career game too. See you then.

They don't have to 'move' Stockard, they just have to be quicker like the kids that beat them in the P.B. showdown were. Metro do you see him as 'player' at K-State. I didn't see any kind of outside game from him when he was here, he'll need some of that to play with the bigger kids he'll face at that level.

I saw no outside game from Levi Stockard against SLUH last Friday evening. I can not make an opinion until Webster's Courte'are Gordon goes heads up with Levi. C. Gordon has an outside game, This could be a match up dream for Webster but we must wait and see. I can not comment on the K-State situation. Bruce Weber pulled a ' Rabbit out of the hat " when Alexander Sneed from Hazelwood Central enrolled @ Kansas State. Bruce Weber must think there are more rabbits in the hat!

3Rfan, I answered your question, I must ask " What's going on with the Poplar Bluff Mules?

I have no idea about P.B. I have only seen them a few times myself. They beat a pretty good Jennings team to start the season but not much you could call a real good win since then. I'll them tomorrow night against Dexter here in P.B. IF Leech is well enough to play I figure he'll want to prove getting shutout against them last year was a fluke. I have no idea how healthy he is or if he'll even play.
