Franklin County Opening Friday

Georgia opening Friday despite not meeting the criteria to reopen and Gov Kemp declares cities cannot impose their own restrictions.

Here is the mentality

I know that goes on and many think that. But when they lose a loved one things will change.

But what is funny well really it is not, you post something like this in support of the shutdown, but yet you think that some kids should be deprived of the right to free education because they may have a medical issue, just to be able to play sports?

You are a hard man to figure out...but then again you will probable ignore this.

Sometimes I go off on a tangent. When I said kids with medical issues might consider homeschooling I was thinking in general. Not about sports. But I can understand how that wasn’t clear. I apologize.

So I have to ask, what are your thoughts on what I posted. I hate that we might not play sports this year, I want to the kids to be able to play, I think kids need some normalcy in their lives really bad right now. But then as I say that, I think is playing sports more important then just opening schools for education? I mean it is one thing for kids to be exposed just going to school. But then add in the fact that you are going to send up to 60-70 kids on a bus to play a sport that well is very close contact, (there is no other way to play the game) to other areas of the state. I just don't know how at this point we can say yeah let's do that, it makes total sense, when we won't let people get a hair cut? I am just trying to figure out the thinking to this. Part of me thinks it is MSHSAA trying to keep their doors open, because if they can't play football pretty sure basketball and everything else will be out the window this year and into next, and then there will be no revenue coming in for them. So are we putting safety above all else and are they the ones to really make a good decision? Again not saying I agree more or less just thinking out loud, and probable what many school board members and administrators are discussing in private right now.

And we CAN'T pretend we can hide from it. The American way of life/society will end if we do. Individuals can do whatever they want but government must step back from deciding what individuals must do.

I think high schools will play in the fall if infections are low. If they start to rise significantly in Nov-Dec flu season, MSHSAA will shut down fast.

MSHSAA has announced they are lifting the ban on 20 days of contact this summer so they are planning on playing in the fall.

Yes again I do think MSHSAA wants to play, they are already working on some plans to probable play baseball in a month, if some things can be worked out. But again, MSHSAA has several reason why they need to play, money is top.

I really want us playing again, I miss sports, but it will be interesting, you cannot play sport and practice social distancing. I just wish we could get some sort of treatment or vaccine so we can put this nightmare behind us.
