Final Kearney 35 Hannibal 7

I just got back from this one.................many questions answered for me in this one and a couple still out there: I could tell in warmups this one was not going to be the tossup I predicted. Kearney was the more physical, athletic team and it was nowhere near close. This old man could've run through some of the holes that O Line opened up today. Hinck (just like Roderique and Thompson yesterday) put on a show even with a pretty stiff crosswind which held the passing game down. I was very surprised by Hannibal's predictability and they frankly looked like slow motion compared to K's cat-quick rush to the ball D. THAT bodes very, very well going forward.

The questions still out there about K have to do with the passing offense (but this was not the game to see that................,my gosh never thought they'd play so vanilla offensively and still dominate like that vs. a team that had a very high quality win on its resume (Battle) without Jess Davis and the other is DISCIPLINE on that aforementioned tremendous O Line (have we had a more physical unit since 2009??). Gotta cut down all those holding pens!

Overall I got to witness two very, very impressive wins by a pair of MO elite programs in Fort O and Kearney the past 20 hours! With my crazy work sked it was about time..................now cannot wait to see how each shows in the Semis!

Those holding calls are taught. No coach from Kearney is worried about them.

The times I've seen them play, they seem outweighed/outsized on the line on both sides of the ball. But they are much faster (team speed.) And i'd wager anything that the dough boy lines they are facing would lose any fitness test that involves strength endurance. And it wouldn't be close.

Honestly that was one thing I was spying (and do every game) in pregame warmups..................as I stated after the Platte County first game in October this K team, while they have fewer marquee individuals this year, is about as athletic as any I can remember in the Jones era. Once again get those unnecessary holding pens tightened up and look out!

Against lesser competition you can get away with it...................NOT NOT NOT against that team about 100 percent awaiting in the Dome (that is provided K advances, never a certainty).

There was also the personal foul at the wrong time, the clip that cost them 70 yards, the illegal contact that cost them at least three more points. It isn't just holding...it is a lot of mental mistakes. That could make it tough to make it to the Dome. And if at the Dome, WC would feast on all those mistakes...the king of the hill loves those mistakes. Kearney easily gave away 10 to 17 points today just on those penalties.

In all fairness to Kearney there was a blatant personal foul on Hannibal late in the 3rd that the officials somehow missed completely plus two pretty questionable out of bounds tackles so the Dogs weren't the only ones guilty they just were the ones that got caught.

No, but they teach it that way. Maryville does too. After watching it be such a successful technique, I can't say I blame them. Basically taking the few that are called in a game and banking on the fact that they will gain more when it's not called than they will lose when it is..

The other penalties on the other hand, can't happen.
