I don’t see this topic posted previously. Hopefully I didn’t overlook it.

Has anyone heard what MSHSAA’s plan is for the final four games in regards to fans? I’m hoping to go watch the games but haven’t heard what fan admission will look like.

On MSHSAA website shows all games at Missouri State just doesn't say about fans. Hoping they do like Blue and Gold and let certain percent of capacity in.

Thanks RR for pointing us in the right direction. $9 per game, clear the gym after each game.
Think we'll set this one out. Just maybe MSHSAA will step up and do the right thing and make all
games available "free" like a few years back...OK, wishful thinking....C =\~ 🤪

This thing is becoming a huge joke. $9/game and hiding behind capacity limitations? Solid work MSHSAA. Now you're going to have nothing but fans from each school in a cave. Great atmosphere for a state tournament. Might as well just have a coin flip and the winner gets to host. Just another example of kids getting screwed because someone's grandpa might get sick because someone that visits them went to a basketball game. Good lord.

I can live with those terms. If your school is in the final four, you can attend. And a big enough arena that outsiders can get in if they order as soon as available. The kids are happy to be there and playing on a major college floor.

It's better than last year!

I know I fit into a relatively small group but I am one of the die-hards who have attended the Final Four games for many years (28 to be exact) prior to last year. There used to be a lot of us, sitting in the area across from the benches, that were there every year. With changes in format over the years, some have stopped coming. I hope that high school sports don't continue to lose fans like me who like to watch no matter who is playing. We are a dying breed and lately, it doesn't seem MSHSAA is concerned about whether we attend or not. It has felt this way for several years, even before COVID-19. I sent an email to MSHSAA with some questions about this year's Final Four and got no response. That makes the message clear.

I watched the Indiana girls state Championships on TV last weekend, IN Kansas City, MO. This can easily be done again in Mo., MSHSAA needs to get their crap together. I've heard they have stopped televising due to lack of sponsors, I call BS. I attended in person for years in Springfield and then in CoMo and back to Springfield. I have not been able to attend for about the last 3 years, and of course last year, but I really miss being able to watch them on TV if unable to attend.

With the governor lifting restrictions across the state I see no reason why we couldn't get back to normal attendance policies. I understand some would say it's a bad idea, but I think we are all capable of making decisions for ourselves. The attendance policy changed at the very last minute a year ago, surely it can change now prior to March 11th.

He didn't lift anything, he hasn't had anything in place for several months. He is letting city's and county's decide for themselves and taking no responsibility for any of it. School districts have restrictions, MSHSAA has their restrictions. In the last 2 weeks I have attended a basketball game with no fans, a games with 2 fans per player/coach, and a game w/ no restrictions and a pretty full gym. The inconsistencies are odd.

Have you not been paying attention the last year or so?!?! Reasonable people couldn't possibly make decisions for themselves. Someone could do the unimaginable and pass around a virus, you know, while living their life!

Yeah cause half million deaths later it's still just like the flu. Those ain't all 80 year old folks and many people that get it have long lasting affects from it and we still don't know what that will be like a few years down the road.

WITH, WITH, WITH...it’s far different than because. You’re correct, they ain’t all 80 yr olds. Just like the flu and other viral infections, it will cause (yes, cause) deaths in those under the age of 35. I’m way cool with you still believing all of this crap that has been pushed on you. Ever wonder why it’s cooled from a media perspective in the last six weeks or so? And if you still choose to believe it, then you have options. Wear your mask. Avoid other people. Stay home. Hell, I don’t care. Just shut up and let other people go on about their own lives.

Leaving aside the political takes, you mentioned three general options. Which of those do you think should be in place right now statewide, if it were up to you?
I enjoy going to games, personally, I felt safe at all 3 and I did wear a mask at all 3. It should be a personal choice and not political, but we can't be grown-ups and do that, have to "blame" someone or something. I get why some schools have made the decisions they have and do not have any ill will against those who have had full gyms. Had I not felt safe, I would have left w/o incident or pointing fingers. It was nice to see kids having fun at the games.

So, to answer your question, sorry I didn't, I would open it up and let people attend if they want and provide as many safety procedures as possible for them. Just me, my opinion.

I agree that the inconsistencies are odd. So I guess my question is this. Are the sites that have no restrictions (there have been sites like this all season) having outbreaks of COVID after those games take place? If not, then what are we doing? I think people have the ability to decide for themselves what is safe and what is not at this point. I think you and I are agreeing on most of this. I wish we would stop with all of the restrictions.

Unfortunately, it isn't that easy or black and white. Some schools aren't allowed to make their own decisions for whatever reason, not important. MSHSAA has the call on the State tournaments, I believe.

The playoff rounds have been different at different locations. MSHSAA will have the call at the Final Four I assume. I have been told that the Blue and Gold allowed 50% capacity. I wish they would at least do that for the Final Four. That tells me that it isn't the local government that is setting the limits currently in place. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I'm not sure either, I would think MSHSAA consults with the locals and then makes the call. Does MSU have any restrictions on their campus? I would think they have some say? Maybe? Again, I am not sure.

IIhave no idea what you're taking about, no where in my post does the word 'with' show up. I have avoided crowds, wore a mask when I need too and will soon be able to get the shots. Could have before now except I had to wait 60 days after my second shingles shot which was Jan 7th. This coming from a guy that hasn't watched less 100 basketball games in person in the last 30+ years, closer to 150 most years, but I have stayed away. I hope to be right back on the trail next season. You haven't shut up about it why should anybody else?

Half a million have died WITH COViD. Not BECAUSE of COViD. It’s a distinction none of you seem to want to make. And you’ve done EXACTLY what you should if that’s what you’re comfortable with. The rest of the people (and most importantly, kids) haven’t been able to do that because we’re still handling this “pandemic” the way we were 12 months ago, when the reality is the restrictions are goofy and not needed. The biggest fear of the politicians is they just lift all restrictions and nothing happens. Meaning all the stupid crap (like in person learning being closed 6-12 months for a lot of kids) decisions they made were completely worthless...Again, you do you. I hope you get the vax soon and can return to doing what you love.

So you know how many of the half million plus would have died at the same time in their life if they did NOT get covid? NO you sure as hell do NOT!! I don't give a damn what other conditions they might have had, they didn't die UNTIL they got covid!!! I will get my first shot Tuesday morning at the Black River Coliseum here in P.B.

I'll NEVER get to the Final Four, so I don't care where they have it or who can attend or anything else about it.

Lol. FFS dude. The numbers were out months ago from all you Ronabros beloved CDC. At the time it was something like 9k of the 150-200k deaths (going off memory) was COViD the only and leading cause of death. Along with that was the release of age demographics and underlying conditions. If that didn’t open your eyes, nothing will. And if it didn’t, stay home. That’s the beauty of choice. You can do the same every fall/winter during cold and flu season.

[/QUOTEYou didn't show me anything that says all those people would be dead anyway if they didn't get covid. You can have any kind of 'underlying condition' you can name and survive for many years. But it is much harder to survive if you DO get covid. I know lots of folks with heart issues, COPD and many other health issues that they have LIVED with for many years. There you go with that flu season crap again, this thang ain't nothin like the flu!!!

Those people are why, a year later, we aren’t back to normal life? Here’s a crazy thought, maybe those people should be the ones forced into extreme cautions and measures to avoid the spread. You know, not the 99.8% of the population it doesn’t affect. Or, they can risk it if they do choose.

Most of the schools this year have had their games online for free since the fans could not attend. But now that the playoffs are here they are not and MSHAA has the games available for $10 each. Whoever is making this decision should be replaced immediately.

On top of that, it is the exact same people streaming the games with the exact same camera/ipad. The only thing MSHSAA did was send a link to go through them and charge $10. It would be different if they provided more help.

The online tickets are also a mess. The schools have no control over who purchases the tickets and they must be purchased online through the MSHSAA website. Once the password gets out, anyone can purchase tickets and the schools have no idea who has purchased. There is no master list to be seen or anything. The $7 also turns into $8.50 because of the processing fee of doing it online.

This happened to the Eugene girls fans. The other team went to Eugene's FB page and got the code and bought up their tickets. I've been to a handful of postseason games, have yet to see anyone 'filming' for MSHSAA even though they had links to the game for sale.

The fact that schools just don't thumb their nose at this and stream it the same way they've been doing all year long just boggles my mind. Force MSHSAA to come after them.

I don't know this exact details on this, but I did hear this happened during a wrestling district or sectional event. The MSHSAA stream wasn't working so the host school streamed from their youtube page and MSHSAA called and told them to take it down. Again, not sure of the details and I heard that 2nd hand.

My response to MSHSAA had I been on the other end? Eff off...click. I really don't think there's a chance any of it would hold up in court. Just challenge them until they back down or force your hand to have the district's attorney contact them.

I was watching girls wrestling today via a facebook live page of one of the schools that had girls competing! It is being done. I just hope they do not get caught bootlegging the MSHSSA movies!

Crazy, last year you could stream your team's games until the Final Four. The host school this year gets $1 for every ticket sold. I do not see how they can say a word about the filming rights in the school.

I found out yesterday that to stream this year we will have to purchase each game at the Final Four separately instead of watching all of the games for one fee like last year. It's all about the money now. For the first time in 29 years, I may not be watching any final four games. MSHSAA no longer wants avid basketball fans to support high school athletics. They only want the fans from the participating schools. I think that's unfortunate.

My other complaint is that any time someone questions a rule about contact days, etc, the MSHSAA response is that they don't make rules. They say all decisions are voted on by the member schools. Did the schools vote to start charging people for all post-season games that are streamed? I would be surprised if that is the case.

MSHSAA doesn't own players likeness's so all it would take is one parent to sue them for using the Childs likeness without permission and they wouldn't be able to charge for streams if I understand it correctly...So I don't even know if they have the right to charge to stream it

Wouldn't you make a lot more money, if you streamed everything from the weekend to everyone and sold ads based on all the eyes that would be on your event???????????????
