Final Four Officiating thoughts.

What has everyone thought of the officiating at Como? In general, I felt I saw a lot of reaches and hand checks not called, a lot of banging in the post with no whistle. I come from a smaller school background, but I felt these games were not officiated nearly as tight as other games I saw in playoff games. In the two quarterfinal games I saw for class 1 boys, the games were officiated much more closely.

I genuinely would like to hear what others think, and am not trying undermine any individuals or organizations.

It totally depends on where the refs are from. We see it all the time here as officials from St. Louis area allow a lot more contact than those west of us. It really changes the game.

I noticed one official call a class 1 game and then a class 3 game. Totally different. Don't get me wrong, I thought he did a great job, just totally different according to class and geography.

I agree. And it puts teams at a disadvantage that didn't have that style of officiating all year. Next question: should officiating change related to geography and school size?

no, when you get to state it has always been that way, they let more go, you have to adjust to the game,
