Why did MSHSAA change up the schedule of the final 4? Pretty certain when it was in Columbia they played all semi final games on Thursday for Class 1-3. 3rd place games on Fri. Championships on Sat

As a fan, you attend on Thursday and have chance to see everyone play. I’m sure it has to do with how they can make more money which seems to be the only thing they are ever after

And I don’t want to hear the excuse they want everyone to be able to play on the main court. Correct me if I’m wrong but if you use 2 courts on Thursday you only need 1 (main court) for 3rd place and championship games.

His answer to your question was this: The schedule is set so that none of the participating schools, or their fans, would have to be there for 3 days. According to him, this was at the request of school adm. and fans, so they did not have to spend extra $$$ on lodging.

Fair enough. If that’s the reasoning then I can live with it.
However as a coach or player, I’d prefer the day off between semis and championship to game plan and prep. Even if it’s just a walk through and film.

Lame if you ask me, but if that's what they want that's what they want...Still easy solution. Run 6 games back to back in two buildings. The main floor thing is crap. Put boys on one floor and girls on the other on Friday for semis. Rotate that yearly. Put the 3rd place games in Hammons/Hearnes on Saturday and championship in whatever the new versions are called. Sometimes people just have to make things WAAAAYYYYY harder than they need to be.

Sometimes what is best for one, isn’t what is best for the whole.

Don't blame the schools for not wanting to have to pay for 3 days of lodging. Many students, parents, and other fans don't have the money to spend on that either. Personally, I find it ridiculous that schools have to pay for their own hotels. MSHSAA should pay for them. But MSHSAA is one of those non profits that always seems to be "broke" after all expenses (and salaries and perks) are paid. Imagine that.

agreed...how much revenue does a final four bring in, and you can't get 10 hotel rooms for teams? get real.

Do you think that the reason they don't do hotel rooms is because if they did then they would have to do it for every sport even perhaps ones that don't generate any revenue? Guessing that some of the sports lose money?

MSHSAA does get really good rates at nice hotels for the schools. At least for basketball in Springfield a few weeks ago.

Good hotel rates? I thought that was a thing of the past! Once in a while you can get a nice deal the last three days prior on priceline, but never in Columbia or Springfield. Those things fill up and they don't cancel very often.

I tried to price line the hotel my team stayed at a few days before the games and it was double the rate that MSHSAA got for the team.

I was just stating that they at least did something for the teams.

Oh, I'm not questioning you, I'm glad they do something for the teams. Just in general as I travel on business I haven't gotten great rates for about 15 years. Last great rate was in Pittsburgh, PA at a Holiday Inn Express near Robert Morris University. It was 29.98 or something like that and it was nearly new and very plush.
