February 5

I drive the speed limit, never had a ticket. I stated my position and not going to talk in circles with you.

I expect trumpy to choose economy (his best interests) over human life, and all the sheep will wave the flag with one hand and the bible with the other. Hypocrites!!

You can stay home.

You think driving 70 is safe? People die everyday driving in town at much lower speeds. Your position was if it saved even one life. Ever been in a swimming pool?

Trump can only make suggestions since he didn't shut anything down (except some flights). His suggestions to date have been what the advisers recommended.

In 30 days. Headline "Trump could have saved lives had he used Hydroxy etc." The press riles up crazies already mad at the world.

What did Jesus do when he went into the temple with the gold and silver coin changers??

Since you brought it up, do you think Jesus was opposed to people doing business making money? If so, I hope you've never made any.
Jesus was upset because the temple (place of worship) had been turned into a marketplace of people selling animals for sacrificing (at not great prices) instead of its proper use. Those selling had no interest in faith.

By all means, you and drafty feel free to hold hands and go to a full walmart May 1 if they swing the doors open. I won't try to stop you.

I'm serious - we are so freakin spoiled!! I saw an interview recently with a 98 yr old WW II vet. When asked what he thought about everything happening, he chuckled a little and said "I've been through worse", and then talked about how bad things were during WW II with food rationing, gas rationing, soup lines, nobody having much coming out of the depression, and everybody had a family member or knew somebody that was killed in the war. We are no where near being as bad off as most people were back then. Even myself, I can remember going thru some pretty lean times as a kid in late 60s and early 70s but my parents got by - anybody else remember the free "commodities" program - government canned meat, cheese, cereal, etc.
Those WW2 vets were willing to die to preserve the American way of life and freedom to live it! You want to sacrifice it to save a life!
Most of the elderly I know almost have to be tied down right now. They think this is ridiculous BECAUSE they know what actual hard times are.

There would be such a low risk of even contracting it and even lower of dying from it than things we do every day it wouldn't bother me (other than the hand holding part).

99.6% or more survival rate (we don’t know!). Putting 33% in a position not to pay rent last month.

What is the human life cost of forcing people to stay home? You welfare lovers, what about all the kids that need a good place to eat 2 meals a day and be loved? Also, parents held accountable to take care of their children?

No way the cure is better than the disease statistically.

I agree but, my original point was that the POTUS has more to consider than whether shutting down the economy would save some lives. We could save a lot of lives in normal circumstances by that principle. You have cited just some of the negatives we are accepting to lessen a negative. Unless there is a vaccine whenever we resume life the death tolls will continue. All we are doing is prolonging it....at what cost.

Cmon, that is a Duck move! You claimed you wanted discussion/debate and not partisan positions. I'm opposing every thing Trump is promoting shutdown and payout wise yet you run away?
Just as well since I have to go to bed. Somebody has to make and spend to keep this country alive. May as well be me.

I stated my position. You stated your's. Why beat it to death?? You guys want to argue for the sake of arguing. Seems rather childish to me.

Do you drive 70?
Do you use a swimming pool?
Do your kids climb trees?
Do I need to go on?
You are avoiding the obvious that we risk lives everyday and find them acceptable risks.

It was clear to that US Senator what needed to happen. Dr Fauci and his cohorts were ringing the bell in February. One man was holding up the train and let the inevitable tragedy be worse than it had to be. Here is why

What in Late Jan. DR. F was talking about keeping this to 5 cases all related to Travel to china...and the WHO didn't call this a emergency till Jan 30th.

Don't distort the timeline.

So what you are saying is Trump didn’t do his job and he is unqualified to lead. Agreed.

Local Gov. and State Gov. where always free to do what they did. Trump instituted a Travel Ban, he called for Billions in cash, reallocated Funds to fight it. And tried to mitigate the Fear. If he would of called for a massive shut down earlier he would of been attacked for being a fascist and taking control.

Let's be real this is really a Urban Problem in NYC, once that Curve is flattened and the deaths slow in NYC the MSM will claim the Crisis is over no matter if deaths are happening anywhere else.

LOL this isn't a real crisis at all, this is a over hyped, running scared bump in the road. If this would of happened 40 years ago it would of been a headline for a few days, been on the nightly news for a week with a 3 min. update each day and people would of adjusted.

We haven't had a real crisis since World War two.

You can bet your *** if it's MY relative on a ventilator fighting for their life, then "ANY deaths are unacceptable" if any death is preventable!! Are you or anyone else choosing your gold over human life?? What did Jesus do when he went into the temple with the gold and silver coin changers?? Do you really think that financially we are going to get that bad off if we keep restrictions in place for another couple of months? I keep hearing the predicted peak in MO is May 17. We can't open the country up all at once anytime soon. I do think we are saving thousands of lives right now with the restrictions in place.

I do feel sorry for people who are going to struggle to get by financially, especially young people with families who don't have any savings. I hope they get their stimulus checks, unemployment checks, and any kind of assistance they need to stay afloat. We do need to do anything and everything to help the neediest get by. My heart does go out to them. But also, maybe some will have to learn to get by without the internet, dish tv, iphones, and the new SUV. And I hate to say this, but I see a lot of young people who had to have the brand new house in the newest subdivision. And they all think going to Florida or Bahamas once a year with the family is normal. (I bet most of us didn't do that when we were young.)

As far a me and probably all of us on here, what's the worst going to happen? If things get bad, we might have to sell the bass boat and RV, and no way we are giving up the internet and dish!! That would be poverty to us!!

I have family out of work right now. I pray they can get by a little longer, and know they have mom and dad to help them out a little if necessary. But I don't want my nephew going back to work at GM with 1,000 other people right now. Not until it is safe to go to work without getting a deadly virus. I expect there will be precautions in place even when we do open the factories, restaurants, bars, etc.

We cannot put the economy over people's lives. We cannot say X amount of deaths is acceptable. We have to wait this out. We are no where near the Great Depression days. Pray the summer heat does as most think and stop the spread. And pray for a vaccine soon so we don't have to go thru this again next winter.

WOW that was a pretty much a emotional rant based on your feelings and your Moral opinion.

I do agree with some of your post, we are spoiled and this ain't anything close to WW2.

But after that your post is all about people you know and your sympathy for them and their plight with no real answers data or logic ...

Now this is gonna be Brutal and unpalatable to many but it's the Truth and it's Been the Truth throughout recorded history,.....But in reality Human Life is Cheap...in fact all life is cheap, it is a Infinite resources that can be Bred.

Land, Gold, Oil, Gems,Water, etc. are all finite resources and they ain't making more of it on this planet. This is why War's are fought over finite resources and that is why Humans are exploited and die for the control of finite resources.

So the idea that Human life has more value than Gold etc. is a myth. At the end of the day the majority of people Choose their's and them over others they don't know. Sure it's nice to believe that everyone cares about everyone else on the Planet and that we can all agree and get along together but that Is a bunch of hippie Bunk.

So yes Deaths are acceptable, I fully accepting of the Fact My Mom and Dad are high risk. They have medical conditions and the Age that getting C19 would surely kill them. I am accepting that my GFa Epi RN is at High Risk and could also die from it. . Most deaths are acceptable that is life.

People die every day. I've had friends and Family die from Cancer,Stroke,Heart disease, complications of the Flu,car Wrecks etc. I've accepted them all. Some could of been prevented by, exercise/Diet, another driver not drinking, but at the end of the day people have to accept that Death is part of life and Life ain't fair.

There is near 8 billion people on Earth and we are all expendable...

I'm more concerned about the Long term Economy in the U.S. and our Ability to maintain our Economic advantage world wide, second I'm worried about the U.S. ability to maintain it's Military industrial complex and might.

Why Because I want my Daughters and Future generations to have a lifestyle similar to what myself and my ancestors enjoyed.

I'm much more concerned about that than 22+ thousand deaths and almost half of them being from NYC.

Most of the elderly I know almost have to be tied down right now. They think this is ridiculous BECAUSE they know what actual hard times are.

My Mom and Dad is so Pizzed at this shut down and they are the high Risk, they want things opened back up. My Dad is livid that they Called of High School Baseball Friday. He a Hard Core Democrat and borderline Commie(wants Gov. to own all Big Business/not small business) is against all this. Says not enough people are dying to warrant the actions. All their elderly friends feel the same way.

So yeah I hear you.

We are still operating in the dark. One size doesn't fit all. Remember the people that have lied. Trump has done a great job.

Yeah I know but it was clearly only 6 days after...WHO called the emergency. You act like it was weeks or months. Clearly you have never worked or been involved with a gov. entity. Things grind slowly based on input from various agency and parties.
