What are some of your favorite HS football team websites you check out regularly?
I know I like what KCHI does with www.chshornets.com. It is a very well rounded website covering all the sports and history of Chillicothe. I also enjoy what cardsbeatwriter does with www.webbcityfootball.com. The weekly podcast is the strong suit of that website, and it is put together very well. I am partial to the website I administrate for Harrisonville at www.harrisonvillefootball.com. It is driven by history. I also use social media Harrisonville Wildcats Football on Facebook and Hville Wildcats FB @HvilleWildcatFB on Twitter to promote and tie them all together.

Thank you for the kind words blue and white! I hope my site is able to capture the history as much as yours and KCHI does one of these days.

Every town has a story to tell. Putting a website together to document that story is as easy as ever. I would encourage any high school football fan to embrace the challenge and document your favorite schools history.

I have checked out all three sites and like them all. Have been trying to get more info on league histories. Old Southwest and Big 10-8-9-10-12-13-(14)-8 have about all I need. Thanks to Chillicothe have a lot on the 2 leagues they have been in. If I had more info from the Harrisonville site on the West Central and old Mid-West leagues it would be awesome. Collecting league standings and list of champions then sharing with RealRay at his site http://realrayfootball.weebly.com/ to fill in any missing champions and hope he can get a league standings page going. have been doing research in Kansas 40+ years and now living in Missouri and have about 2 years of research in, still a lot to go.

thanks for the kind words Blue! Our town library was a big help. While I did the original football and basketball research the old fashioned way with microfilm and a legal pad and pencil, after that all the newspapers archives were put on line so I could research at home. Also the library had every single school yearbook scanned onto DVDs and let me borrow them, so the historical pictures were fairly easy to get too.

"the library had every single school yearbook scanned onto DVDs and let me borrow them"

If only Greene County would do/allow that! They act like you want to see the freakin' US Constitution when I've asked about the yearbooks. I guess smaller town libraries are a little more user friendly.

well before they were digitized, the yearbooks were kept locked in a safe...which I can understand. Plus, I'm friends with the head librarian, so that helps. I can understand about a library wanting to be careful with a 1906 School yearbook...

Know what your talking about KCHI. When I started researching back in 1970 in SE Kansas and SW Missouri a lot of schools wouldn't let me look at the annuals, Webb City at first let me in and hour and half later they asked me to leave, some like East Newton, Liberal, Fort Scott and Pittsburg were super and let me access everything. Spent over 30 years in libraries, newspaper offices and schools research teams and leagues in Kansas. Now partial disabled and finance wise unable to travel doing all my Missouri research online

I have tried e-mailing you cardsbeatwriter I have 99% of the scores dating back to 1920 for Webb City if you needed them for your site, just need to digitize them. Did my Webb City research back in mid 1980s.

Would this book have all the game-by-game results?

Seksports... I apologize for not responding. For what it's worth I still have the email you sent from 06/19/2013. It was buried in my mailbox, out of sight out of mind I guess. I have most of the scores you have in a notebook somewhere that swear I am going to get online every off season and I never get around to it. I would like to get a copy of you your data to compare with mine. Never hurts to have a few different sets of eyes on projects like these. Send me an email and we can figure out a way to get together to copy your info. Thanks!

I need to get my Webb City digitized and e-mailed to you. Not sure what I sent you back in 2011. Guess I can start where you end on the website and work backwards. My info came from Webb City yearbooks and Joplin Globe. Spent many Wednesdays in Joplin public library going thru Joplin Globe microfilm files. Is email still listed on the site? Mine is still the same.

There are many discrepancies between the media record and the yearbooks at WC! Anything taken from the yearbooks needs to be verified. Because of the discrepancies and the vague information found prior to 1910, the official record of WC is unknown. I publish the record from 1909 forward because that is all that I have been able to verify in the record.

From my experience I always trusted the newspaper before the yearbook. I found many times that the old newpaper writers were very detailed, and were being paid to get it right. Yearbooks were generally put together by a student yearbook staff of the high school. Both are great and have tremendous value, but I would value the newpaper info more.

Usually for most schools I getyearbook info to get coaches full name, lot of time in papers it's just last name.
Yes I've found yearbooks unreliable on scores and order of games. For some of the smaller schools who didn't get write up in paper I use yearbook as source. Or when I have no access to newspapers files/microfilm or missing papers.

I know Perry Phillips is the Reeds Spring football guru. He has the scores from every game they ever played. Sure he will be happy to help you if you want any of them. He is on here and has his on website as well....
