Farmington Girls

Says they are 5-8 on mshsaa web site. Correct? And seeded 2nd
Not even close to correct. MSHSAA website is often wrong about teams basketball records. Teams do not report all games. I believe Farmington Girls are 12-12. And yes seeded 2nd in district. North County should be seeded 2nd. They split their regular season matchups and North County has superior record. Not sure why Farmington is seeded higher. They meet in rubber match tomorrow night.

They will be fined for not having their record up to date by the district seed meeting. They should also be ashamed and may God have mercy on their souls.

Personally my first thought was some games had to be forfeited because of some reason. Would have figured records would have been sent in when the seedings went in.

Farmington was the #2 seed because they beat NC later in the season (same reason they were seeded higher in MAAA Tournament). Records dont matter when not everyone plays the same type schedule.

Farmington won easily. NC 7 of 30 from the free throw line. They shot 47% on the year and 30% the last 5 games. The 3 big girls shot 45% for the season. Another year of talent wasted. That coach can’t win big game’s. Hasn’t made the program better. The program he left has doubled it win total since he left. Turn the page NC!

Hard to believe they missed 23 FTs and shot that poor all year. Girls usually don't shoot them too bad. Didn't they run Joe Arnold off because he lost to WC or something? NC girls have had a hard time getting over the hump. Farmington has been awful for quite awhile now. McFarland went 10 years without losing a conference game. Then had a couple down years and kind of got run off. They've been bad since. A change is needed there too.

You 2 got your resumes ready?
I don't need a job. But if my results were not as expected I'd be looking for a different one. It's not hard to see when someone isn't working out. It's not always 100% their fault and not always fair. But all coaching positions come with a level of expectations. If that level isn't being met changes usually happen. It's just a fact of coaching.

You are just a bitter NC parent of a former player because your kid probably didn't get enough playing time, or whatever make believe complaint you have against the guy. NC has won a district title, the only team to win a conference tourney title besides central in the past 9 years (he's only been there 5), been in the conference tourney title game 3 of the last 4 years (all with being seeded 4th or lower), and they are the only team to beat state ranked Ste Gen in the regular season this year. Look at the records/accomplishments of the program since he's been there, most accomplished girls program at the school without question.

The program he left also just so happened to get the best JCC player to transfer in for two years. That might have had little something to do with their success. You should win more with a kid transferring in that adds at least 15 and 10 a night. They've also had 3 different coaches since he's left so that sounds like a small school having a single class of talented players for 4 years. Let's see how they look in the coming years after this senior class graduates. I'm willing to bet the ride the small school talent wave again.

Mike 37 know your facts before you complain. You just sound bitter for no apparent reason.

Don't forget, boys, if you coach in the MAAA and JeffCo areas, you are always battling the volleyball virus. They're all going to play winter VB, and if the HS basketball coach tells his players that they can't play winter VB, they'll choose volleyball, and there goes half your talent. And it's getting harder to find girls to do both, and VB doesn't have as much running. It only takes a couple of your best athletes in small or medium size schools to say they are going to concentrate on volleyball, and that can turn a potential very good team into a just average team.

Right for the wrong reason, IMO. Many of those VB girls also run track so its not the running that drives them from basketball. It is, pure and simple, the contact and physicality they are subjected to in games and practices. They do not enjoy the game and they see no reason to risk injury that could cost them a vb or track season and potential scholarship doing something they no longer enjoy. It is true that the no volleyball ultimatum drives many away also.

How about no Friday practices in January very few in February. How about very little free throw shooting practice.
Won conference with Holly Forbes probably the best player to ever to wear NC uniform. But could not win districts with that team. Didn’t even run a play to get her the ball at the end of that game. One last thing they won 90 games the 5 years before and have won 95 since. I don’t really know if that’s improvement. I know lots more facts!

Still waiting for your employment record to evaluate

You were at their practices? Didn't know you played for NC.

89 wins the 5 years before he was there. That's with 3 1,000+ point scorers and 2 D1 athletes. 6 more wins in that time frame sounds like an improvement to me. Didn't he coach Forbes her junior and senior years? Wasn't that her best years as a player? And if you try and say anything about being good before he was there, apply that same logic to the Grandview program you were just comparing in your earlier statement.

He's won more games and more overall tournament championships in that same amount of time. #2 in program wins behind NC Hall of Fame Bonnie Bradley and with 5 wins next year the fastest coach to reach 100 wins in the girls program.

I don’t believe they were good before he was there. Just a lot better after he left.
He has had 2 1600 points scorers and a 1000 point scorer.
3 juco athletes one D1 athlete 3 NAIA athletes 1D3 athlete and probably another D1or D2 athlete in the point guard that will be back.
One of the years they practiced 9 times in a 45 day stretch during January and February.
I would be amazing how good they could be if he put the time and effort into that program coach Mappes does at Central!

How many Sundays? How many game nights? How many late-night game nights? How many nights was the gym used for some other activity? That number looks bad by itself but doesn't mean that the number is a fair representation of the situation.

Farmington has been down in a couple sports since Black Tiger left!!! It’s gotta be the Tiger. Lol

The old adage you play like you practice fits perfectly here.

NC averaging 19 wins a season past 5 years. Sounds like they're playing and practicing fine. I'm sure farmington, potosi, fredericktown and the other MAAA schools would agree.

You must be a vindictive parent. What's the issue? Kid didn't get enough playing time? Kid didn't start so you could here the name over the PA? I bet if your kid play other sports at NC they won more basketball games than the other sports.

Winning 70% of the games isn't enough for you on top of everything else the program has accomplished. That's all kinds of crazy. With your logic you might as well get rid on 90% of coaches in all sports.

I don’t have an issue with the number of wins. My issue is all the talent they have had there and don’t seem to be developing it to get better. As 34 said they don’t shoot well from the field or free throw line. If you don’t put the work in as a coach the players won’t get better. Do you think central or Farmington are more talented then NC. I know the amount of time he puts in. No practice today stay home a visualize it. That was told to players. I am done with this thread. It’s just a shame all the chances that have been wasted for NC to make a bigger splash on a state level!

Players don't become great shooters because of how many shots they take in practice. It takes hundreds of hours outside of practice. Do you really think the community and parents would be cool with the coach if the team ran around looking lost on offense or defense in games and the coach said, "Yeah, we spent an hour shooting free throws at practice today so we didn't have a lot of time to go over offense and defense." Shooting is an individual skill and should mostly be worked on individually.

It sounds to me like these players might not be as talented as you seem to think. I don't personally know anyone on this board, but overestimating talent is usually a parent thing.

This is typical at NC right now. Parents and even some admin think they can do a better job coaching the teams. Admin can not coach at NC so they convince higher ups to hire relatives to get the job done. Only hope for NC coaches is the current AD. He is a good guy with morals.

They need to replace a coach because of lack of talent? I don't think there have been any superstars at FHS not playing basketball because of the coach. Sometimes you can't measure success by amount of wins. They seem to have done a rather decent job this season with a very young group.
