The fact that you posted this in the first place, confirms he's not all that well connected to the old staff. Was he passed over or let go? Does he have an axe to grind? He has alterior motives. You are right in feeling it's inappropriate. Under most circumstances it's strange to show up at practice unless you are good friends with the old staff members as a one time thing. It's strange to continue comm. with former players. Using a personal phone to text in today's climate is not smart.
We use a variety of communication but it's typically a group communication. For example, Hudl. Answer, only in rare instances have I texted a player. The text would ask questions like "where are you and why are you not at practice?", "did you see the trainer before you went home?" These things are normal. This sounds abnormal.
Well I cant speak for coaches, but as a booster, we had all sorts of communication with players! Mainly face to face talk, texting wasn't a thing until just a few years ago. I drove players to school, showed up at school to make sure they got to class, organized and led pep rallies, and might sometimes buy them beer. Hey! Players should have some fun. Either way, my communication with players was always well intended, unless their coach just lost the biggest game in school history......
You Ampipe guys take your football pretty serious. I did see that the documentary is on YouTube. I plan on watching it this weekend.
Please! Without us boosters, you would have hardly won a game at Ampipe! Your players would have all be suspended for skipping school or class! No one would be pumped for the games without those pep rallies!
