Congrats to him for accomplishing so much for our state. And we get more years of the dual threat QB Brady Cook, who can both fumble and throw picks.

Brought in the best 2 recruiting classes in miz history. His contract expired in 2025. Now its 2027 so going forward the recruits know they will be with the coach that recruited them. This is what rebuilding a middling program looks like. Hes been here 2.5 years and hcgp record wasnt much better if any at this point. Its not like drink walked into bama or osu. Miz has lost 4 games by 1 score with the offense being the main flaw along with special teams to an extent. Definitely needs to be fixed next year or the seat will start getting warm. Sam Horn will be the starter next year which will be a major improvement. Cook is prolly more suited for a non power 5 program.

If you agree that the seat will get warm if he doesn’t fix the offensive issues (since he is the OC also), why sign him to another 2 years? When he already had a couple years left in his contract anyway.
Why can’t the offensive guru Drink see that Sam Horn is an improvement over Cook now?

I said seat will get warm next year so that's 4 years total. Year 5 it could be hot if not showing significant improvement. Horn is freshman this year and the scuttlebutt is he doesnt know the playbook yet to be the starter. He was posed to get reps vs vandy but wasnt going to happen with such a close game. Lock got thrown in his freshman year and it was basically a disaster.

Extensions based on recruiting classes is not a smart way to do business. Ask Jimbo’s school. Mizzou is satisfied with mediocrity. It is getting old. Give an extension to someone who wins not someone who might win.

The playbook has about 3 plays in it. He’s a recruiter, and a coach by name only. I’m not disagreeing they are hog tied here. But I wouldn’t say it’s not self induced. Also, they will be lucky if players don’t leave regardless. Mizzou isn’t attractive, but the recruitment was. If the play doesn’t improve I don’t think everyone stays. This is currently and could be long term an absolute dumpster fire. The transfer portal has never been easier and more attractive

It’s not. This is a bad look, coming off of barely beating Vandy, and beating a team starting a washed up 5 star in Spencer Rattler. It looks like that’s the thumbs up for maybe getting the tire and lube bowl this year. Or whatever nonsense bowl they end up in if they win 6 games and gets to play Labette community college.

Could be worse.
Odom could still be there.
Drink's stuck with the end of odom's recruiting 'prowess'

The team has improved. Wasn't long ago UK was in the top 10. SEC is brutal every week.

Next year has to show some 'pepper'.

Its not recruiting classes only of course. If they fire drink after year 3 what coach is going to come here? As mentioned if thats the logic coach pinkel wouldn't of had his run. Rebuilding takes time however its a bit easier with the portal. Everyone wants results quickly but thats not reality.

Don't mind toots. He's a quacker.

It’s not the reality at Mizzou.

But but but Odom. I really loved the 2pt conversion pass 6 feet over the receivers head on a slant.

Thats true captain obvious...Mizzou isnt a blueblood. Hence the extension in an attempt to build a foundation for a coach the AD believes in and the players love. Thx for making my arguement. Its a gamble as no one knows what the team will look like in year 4 or 5. This thread wouldnt even of been posted if Mizzou scores 5 more points. The 4th loss by one score. Miz is close just missing an oline and qb.

Those things are kind of important. And I’ve been a Mizzou fan since 1970. That doesn’t mean I defend horse manure. You guys would have been preaching patience with Bob Stull. Call a spade a spade. Close losses are your evidence? Bahahahahaha

Toots you are an epic troll. But you are hitting the biggest issues. I don’t think Mizzou while having these classes and large issues wants to be wasting 7+ seasons on a coach that can’t well? Coach. He can recruit, but the whole coaching thing seems to be over his head.

Rankings on recruiting classes are nothing more than educated guesses. For years Notre Dame and Texas are ranked having top 10 classes or better. They have what 1 national championship in the past 25 years between them.

I have watched hundreds of offensive plays with Luther Burden on the field this year. He does not have blazing speed to blow past defenders nor strength required to hand fight and bring down jump ball type throws. He may well develop into a very good one, but 5-star? Come on man. Lovett is by far the best receiver on the roster.
