The White Rat says it would be better to face the Dodgers in a five games series than a seven? Your thoughts?

If you agree the Dodgers are the better team then, that makes sense I guess. I sure haven't found many things I'd argue with Whitey about.

Kershaw is for sure the best pitcher in the game right now, but Waino on a good day can also put up 9 scoreless innings. Anything can happen in a 5 game series. I seem to recall the Cards taking down Arizona years ago when they had the Big Unit. Matty Mo held his own and things went the Cards way.

His ERA may be that, but I doubt there is a long line of guys chomping at the bit to face him twice in 5 games. That being said, I still agree with Whitey.

As I always tell my wife, "never argue with a genius".

I wonder why the cardinals do seem to hit Kershaw well in the past. It's not like they exactly tear up left handed pitching on a given night

Lowered to 3.60 after two starts this year, in which he's pretty much owned the Birds. If Kershaw starts two, that scares me. Just means Twinkie, Ryu, or Haren have to get a win to get the series...if Kershaw wins two. That's scary. But I'm not sure a longer series helps that much. Man, their front four are solid.

Not a Whitey basher, but he did walk out on the Cardinals so I don't hold him in as high regard as some!!

I think we need to look at the whole picture there. AB wasn't real interested in putting a winner on the field back then. The year before when Worrell went down in early September with the Cards in the thick of the race the brass wouldn't sign off on anything to replace him. I'm guessing LaRussa would have walked also back then.
