So many changes in classes and districts for this season, at least in southwest Missouri

Ozark, Nixa and Republic are all in separate Class 5 districts for the first time I can remember

Camdenton moves down from Class 5 to 4, Aurora goes from 4 to 3

Strafford's path may have gotten easier with the addition of two smaller schools that were Class 2 last season to their district and Clever being moved to a district with mostly Joplin area teams

In Class 2, Blue Eye and Crane are now in the same district

And Skyline moves into the same district as Miller and Ash Grove

Any other notable changes?

Class 3 District 4 is interesting. St. James is going south for the first time I can remember for quite some time. They are with Licking, Dixon, Mountain View, Houston, Mountain Grove, Ava, and Willow Springs. Licking returns almost everything from a final four team, St. James is a traditional central Missouri power heading south, Mountain View won a bunch of games last year but did graduate their all-time leading scorer, and Willow Springs and Dixon had nice seasons last year too. Licking and St. James play in the season opener, which just got a lot more interesting.

Class 3 District 3 does not seem to have an obvious favorite, but I would have to pick Steelville if I had to choose.

Class 3 District 9 will be tough too. A lot of strong programs in there.

Camdenton dropped to Class 4 District 10 with Helias, Boonville, Marshall, Osage, and Capital City. That will be a really tough district. All those teams won a bunch of games last year besides Capital City of course.

The other central Missouri Class 4 district looks tough too. I think it is the same as last year, but has some heavy hitters. Rolla returns almost everything, Sullivan returns almost everything, St. Clair is really athletic, Union had a good team and has that transfer coming in, and Owensville and Salem are usually competitive and dangerous to overlook.

Class 3 District 9 is, once again, LOADED...that district was dubbed the "DISTRICT OF DEATH" 5 years ago and it continues to hold true to its name.

South Cal and California are the front runners in that thing I think...but the dark horse, in my opinion, is Southern Boone. That team is young, athletic, and tough.

Wasn’t long ago the worst team had a .500 record in that district and 3-4 or even 5 of the teams were ranked in the polls. That was a good year for D9

That district was ridiculous that year. There always seems to be some very stacked districts in class 3 and 4 in central Missouri. If I remember right Rolla's district last year was the only district in any class where every team had a winning record.

Rolla 24-4
St. Clair 19-7
Sullivan 17-8
Union 16-11
Salem 16-11
Owensville 16-11

It would be nice if MSHSAA could somehow split the state up into quadrants and then match up seeds from there using maxpreps. Their ranking aren't perfect, but they are always pretty close. Let the better seed host for a couple rounds, then find a site. Every year we see top teams cannibalize each other in a few districts.
